Boss’s Secret by Sloane Peterson
My dream job, a playboy billionaire boss, a fake romance and the murder trial of the century…
What could possibly go wrong?
When I receive a job offer from Windsor Publishing – to work for my teenage crush – Oliver Windsor, and his wealthy family, I know it must be too good to be true. The Windsors, well known for making controversial headlines, should be a PR rep’s dream job.
So long as Oliver’s intensely good looks and persuasive lips do not keep me from acting professionally. I’m sure I can keep these distractions at bay – until he gets too close and I feel my heart start palpitating and body firing up.
But, it’s not until I find out that Oliver’s father is on trial for murder, that this dream job turns into a nightmare. Painting this family in a good light gets more challenging by the minute as more and more scandalous behavior is revealed.
I think I have it all under control, until I start sleeping with Oliver.
And then, a surprise confession from him changes my entire life – leaving me with no idea how I’m going to manage.

Boss's Secret, Book 1 of the Fake Love Rich Boss trilogy, was about Cassidy Hanson, a PR representative, and Oliver Windsor, the heir to the Windsor empire.
Side Note: This book was a cliffhanger. It will leave you wondering what's going to happen next, so be prepared with the second and third books handy.
When Cassidy was a teenager, she'd had a crush on Oliver, even though she knew he had a reputation as a playboy. She also knew from all of the publicity he got as an adult that he wasn't into monogamous relationships. It wasn't until she had been offered a PR position with Windsor Books in New York that she met him for the first time in person. Immediately after accepting the job, she learned that his father, Alan, had been arrested for murder. When she realized that the family had known of the impending arrest long before she accepted the position, she was furious with Oliver and quit. But then he threatened to sue her for breach of contract, so she had to take the position even though she wasn't certain she wanted to anymore.
There was a ton of angst and drama in this book, but that only enhanced the suspensefulness of the story. There were secrets, manipulation, a boatload of heartache, and a rollercoaster ride full of twists and turns.
While the FMC was fully developed and mature, the MMC seemed to act more like a teenager who was living an entitled life and expected everyone and everything to fall into his hands without question. There were moments in the book where his emotions would show through, but then he'd close up and act too pouty. He expected the FMC to accept his actions without question, and that didn't sit right with this reader. There was no room for growth the the MMC, although the FMC did grow and adapt to the situations as they were flung at her until she couldn't adapt any longer.
This book bounced back and forth without a whole lot of attention to chapter breaks. Oh, it had chapters. Don't get me wrong, but there were times when one scene would end with Cassidy in her hometown, and then without warning, she was getting into the back of the limo in New York in the next paragraph.
I only gave this a three-star rating. Not because the storyline was bad, but because the errors and the way it was written left much to be desired. Here's hoping Books 2 and 3 are better.
Yeah, no.
