Over two years ago, I met a woman on New Year’s Eve, and it was the best night of my life. Until the next morning when it became the worst.
One voice message. One swerve over a double yellow line. One little girl, my niece, who’s now mine.

I know what I did to her was wrong, yet I never got the opportunity to explain. But when the door opens and she steps in wearing green scrubs and a long white coat, shock ripples through me, and I hope I might finally get the chance.
