When Elias Petrosyan came to collect what his family was owed, he gave me a choice: pay or forfeit my father’s life.
It was no choice at all, and now I belong to him.
For years I’ve counted the days and pennies until I’m free and fueled myself with hatred for the man who controls my every move.
At least…I think it’s hate.
He destroyed my life and is a threat to all that I hold dear.
So it has to be hate.
Right?

This series has been better than I expected, at least the first 2 books. Author took the sold for a mafia debt trope and added something new to it. Kayla is a rare fmc, tough, surly, and not traditionally beautiful or stupid with money. There's a good, albeit predictable plot line involved, with nuanced supporting characters and sharp dialogue. The third book, Wicked Reign, I didn't like nor hate, it was sort of limping out a story to finish things up.

It does drag in a few parts, particularly book 2, but, despite that, I found it worth reading.
