They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

The day Jerusalem falls, Miriam Elmahdy knows her life is over. Houses are burning, the streets run red with blood, and a traitorous army is massacring every last resident. There is no surviving this, especially not once Miriam catches the eye of War himself. But when the massive and terrifying horseman corners Miriam, he calls her his wife, and instead of killing her, he takes her back to his camp.

Now Miriam faces a terrifying future, one where she watches her world burn town by town, and the one man responsible for it all is her seemingly indestructible “husband”. But there’s another side to him, one that’s gentle and loving and dead set on winning her over, and she might not be strong enough to resist.

However, if there’s one thing Miriam has learned, it’s that love and war cannot coexist. And so she must make the ultimate choice: surrender to War and watch humankind fall, or sacrifice everything and stop him.

Laura never disappoint. I thought War will be less interesting n' a bore because of some reviews. But thank god I gave it a chance cause I freakin' love the story. Love their stubbornness, it's what made Miriam and War so endearing. Their relationship is far the realest. If Pestilence was about mercy, War is about surrendering. Such an amazing book, will read Famine next

The consistent mentioning of “redemption” throughout this series hit me hard because it is embarrassingly true. Humanity has lost its way, it’s streets crawling with evil and our history is proof of our savagery. As we belittle and despise certain groups to the point of gruesome violence, society truly needs redemption but the question is, do we deserve it?

This relationship between War and Miriam is very realistic. I didn’t expect it to beat Pestilence’s book but Laura blew me away with her intimate writing style, making me out of breathe on every sentence I read. War is too stubborn but what do you expect? He’s a horseman and she’s stubborn but she’s human. It’s chaotic like ping pong but in the end it’s what makes them, them. It’s definitely a book I recommend to read!

I really like this book, actually, I really enjoyed Pestilence as well. However, I like the main character in this book better. Miriam has a fighting spirit that I really enjoy in characters.

I honestly loved this book!!! This series so far has me hooked!! War was sinfully delicious. His "wife" was really getting on my nerves most of the book and I didn't like her until the almost end. Next up...FAMINE!! U can't wait!!!

I loved the romance but after reading the novel the only bad thing is that our race never changes and they decides to kill the hero in the end... really!!! Why wait till the end when they already tried and failed before???? Over all i loved it and i'm looking forward for next one

Also, your juvenile comments are making me question your age. Honey, are you sure that you're old enough to be accessing this website? It's against the law for wimpy adolescents to expose themselves to mature content, you know...

Was so looking forward to this book after "pestilence", but tbh this was a disappointment. One of the kay aspects of pestilence was the buildup of their relationship and the gradual humanization of the male protagonist. War was lacking in this department. The ending was weird and abrupt. His character never developed. She never got through to him. Not only that, but the awkward tiptoeing of the author so as not to step on any political/ religious toes in this one is a big minus.

First of all, you claim to "leave just as many good reviews" as you do bad ones. Well, maybe it's just me, but–and I quote from your words–your commentary for Loving the Geek by Julia Seth here, "it's ok, short, cute", doesn't prove to be in any way helpful by correcting "PLOT, GRAMMAR, and/or WRITING STYLE". Again, your words, not mine. But I guess that this comment was way less toxic than your usual ones, so the author gets kudos, doesn't she?

If you need another example, you write, "She passed...one controlling male to the next. He...dictates to her what shes allowed to eat. Sorry dont find that romantic.", in Pretty Prize by Ella Goode. Yeah, that totally qualifies as helpful constructive feedback.

Second of all, it's alright to have your own opinions. I've seen many feedbacks that feature a negativity gleaned from the story, as well as positive ones. Posting it is fine, but it's not fair to the author if you criticize their work in the ways that you do, and your "helpful feedback" has ruined so many reads for me.

Third of all, I never said to restrict your reviews. But if you're so proud of your "constructive feedback", then perhaps you should write your own work and see how nice it feels to have people rate it off in a cavalier fashion without concern for others. Or consult a professional counselor that deals with narcissism, if the former is too arduous. After all, it's easier to destroy someone else's creation than to make your own, right?

Piss right off, you sanctimonious bitch. I will damned well leave any review I please. I appreciate honest reviews that keep me wasting my time, AND YES CRITIQUING CONTENT IS CRITIQUING PLOT--THAT IS WHAT THE STORY IS

Derogatory is insulting the author--which i don't do. Leaving feedback on PLOT, GRAMMAR and WRITING STYLE is fair game. Again, fuck off and have a nice night!

@ Jen Y, could you please stop criticizing every single author on this website? I don't mean to offend, but understand that most of your comments are derogatory and juvenile for someone voluntarily reading contemporary romance. Unless you can write a better book or actually offer some helpful advice, please keep them to yourself.

Jo Jo, you're misreading something. This person said "helpful advice". Last time I checked, "helpful advice" includes positive AND negative feedback. This person is only complaining about comments that criticize the genre rather the author him or herself. They WANT advice that helps them decide whether or not to read a book. They DON'T condemn it. So the only person who should be ashamed here is you for skimming tangent's comment and drawing a totally different conclusion than what tangent's implying 👀.

The absolute cheek of this. They're writing an honest review of their opinion on a book. Who are you to tell someone else that they're only allowed to post a comment if they like a book? Unless you run the site and set the rules, any one is free to say what they like. I've lurked here a few months now and I see one person literally write 'good' over and over and over and no one complains about the dearth of quality that review provides. Why does everyone take umbrage when another reader doesn't like a book like it's a personal attack on them.

I really like the series but so far the only 2 entries suffer the same faults: meandering, rehashing the same conflicts and weak endings. It's as if the author got a great idea for the book, then doesnt know how to write the story around that. 3rd book should be out soon so will be interesting to see if there's improvement.
