No one had ever looked at her and seen perfection—until now.

Delicate, titian-haired Theresa Noble has met her father’s associates in the past, but the gorgeous, Italian-born Sandro De Lucci leaves her speechless. Eighteen months into their marriage, however, Sandro has turned to ice. Desperate to escape a relationship that has proven to be as stubbornly passionate as it is cold and hateful, Theresa summons up the courage to ask for a divorce. But before he’ll grant her request, Sandro demands something from Theresa: a son.

The stalemate sickens her. Never mind that Sandro has yet to introduce Theresa to the large family that means so much to him. Or that Theresa overhears her husband on the phone with a mystery woman. Most damning is that Theresa senses, in Sandro’s treatment of her, the behind-the-scenes machinations of Jackson Noble, her cruel father. From the depths of her anxiety, Theresa must seek an empowering truth about the husband who calls her, with such cold affection, his cara, his beloved.

Warning my coment may be considered a Spoiler by some: I finally read the book... It is well written and conveys really well the feelings of humiliation, abandonment of the unwanted wife. I felt that something wasn't totally to my liking when she starts to change her habits around the house. When she says she doesn't want to be a doormat anymore. She beggings to claim to her husband about his hurtfull actions towards her and it's great, however in the book it seems that the author herself starts to gaslighting her. Every indignation ends with her giving in to her husband, to her father and to her cousin that was not supportive in the key moments. The character of the unwanted wife could grow psychologically more if she would be treated at one point as a grown up woman (not a doll, nor a daddy's girl) .

7/10 the way he treats her is not ok and I am unsure what she loves about him when she doesn’t know him and all he does is treat her like crap. Also going on dates touching or kissing your ex’s cheeks is cheating in my book. Dissatisfied and disappointed

If you have read A ruthless proposition by this author then you would know this book is a messed up copy paste version of same book. Like the characters do the same activities seriously. Both with crossword puzzles, male characters showing no interest in the beginning… like author could not even come up with more original ideas which is why this book makes no sense and while that book was entertaining this one is a complete failed plot.

Yes one thing the authors should really do is not to portray Male characters disrespecting female characters… it doesn’t really make them stand out at all. But this book only showed how much disrespect he has for his own wife and yet he’s supposed to be really desirable. Hell NO!

I guess I'm just not keen on these types of books. It seems to me like, every book, 'Hold on, no matter how badly he treats you. Just keep coming back and taking more and, eventually, he'll realize how wrong he was! Don't give up, girl!"

How strange, I just skimmed Ruthless Proposition last week. I don't like this author but I always try to give them a chance; maybe it's just a bad book and their other content is better. Honestly, the few books I skimmed, they are all bad. It's what I call 'abuse porn' where a male mistreats, belittles, and hurts the fmc over and over and over and over then, improbably, changes his ways and treats her better. This writer in particular glories in that type of fic and I don't know why.

A Ruthless Proposition by this author was a much better book. I read in hopes this will be a good one too but it’s so disappointing. I don’t know why on Earth would people rate this book a 5-star... this is a downright childish book with zero plot. The arguments between the couple don’t make sense and it seems like they are written out of context just to literally /write/ a book. Even teenage characters would have been more mature in their place…. This book was horribly annoying. Don’t read if you don’t like books that drag because this book is the literal definition of it.

The Unwanted Wife, Book 1 of the Unwanted series, was about Alessandro “Sandro” and Theresa (Noble) De Lucci, who had been married for 18 months but Theresa wasn’t happy because, for the entirety of their union, she realized Sandro didn’t love her and had not wanted to marry her, yet she didn’t know why. She didn't know about the deal between her husband and her father that bound the two of them together, though Sandro was under the impression she had been in on the scheme. After each sexual encounter, Sandro had developed a habit of saying, “Give me a son, Theresa…”. But when one such experience ended, she told him wanted a divorce, to which he said he would only give her one if she produced a son. The next day, Theresa went out without telling him where she was going and didn’t return until well after midnight. He was waiting for her and demanded to know where she had been. Instead of answering, she said he needed to show her some respect. He said, "...I have no respect for you, Theresa, not even as the potential mother of my child, because, quite frankly, you can’t even do that right.” {Theresa had a miscarriage five months after they married.} She broke and attacked him, which left bruises and scratches on Sandro, as well as her own hands, and she broke several nails. He apologized for his harsh words, though Theresa didn't believe him. (This was one of the few "dark moments" in the book.) When she entered the dining room the next morning, Sandro asked again where she had gone. A repeat of the previous conversation took place, then she asked him why he wanted a child with a woman he despised. He didn’t answer but instead asked her why she had married him, though she refused to tell him. She left, going to the phone in the bedroom, only to realize Sandro had called her father. They spoke of a deal between them, that he hadn't loved her...and a woman in Italy that Sandro loved. Sandro asked if he had told Theresa about their deal, to which he said that, if she had known about it before the wedding, she would have refused to marry him. After that call, Sandro began asking to spend time with her. The first time he asked, she said she was going to her cousin’s instead. A short time after arriving, Sandro showed up uninvited. She asked why he was there and he said that they should spend some time together, but Theresa said it was "too little, too late". Telling her again that the only way to get a divorce was by providing a son, she asked what happened after the birth; who would get custody, and if he would take the baby. He said she would get custody and he would return to Italy, visiting "two or three times a year". When he said that his motives for marrying her "had everything to do with love...Just not love for you...", she asked what he meant. He said it was none of her business. She said "...yet it affects every aspect of my life...You want a baby but this is my body and so it’s my decision to make.” He tried to interrupt, “I’m your husband…” but she said, “No. You are not my husband...You have never been my husband. A husband loves, honors, and cherishes. A husband is a lover and a champion. Look into the next room if you want to see what a real husband is, because you are no such thing!” The next day, she worked in her workshop in the attic and didn't hear Sandro enter. He was shocked to learn she made jewelry and asked what other secrets she had. She said it hadn't been a secret, but that she knew more about him than he knew about her. He said the info was pointless. Her response "Everything about me, or to do with me, is pointless to you...Everything except my womb of course...You have a lot of use for that! That’s all I am to you, a womb on legs!”. She reminded him that most couples learned such things about each other over the course of their marriage. She also mentioned him being ashamed of her because he never took her to meet his friends or his family. His response was to turn the argument into a sexual encounter, after which she said, "I need a shower...You know what it’s like when you have an overwhelming urge to scrape the touch, the smell, the very essence of someone off your skin, don’t you? After all, that’s what you usually do thirty seconds after your orgasm, and I can finally relate to that.” (This was in regards to all the times they had sex. Once he had climaxed, he would go shower before returning to bed.) A week after that fight, Sandro sent her a text about a business dinner. As they arrived at their dinner destination, Theresa realized he had taken her to meet his football buddies, and she said, "...this is too little too late...It’s like putting a Band-Aid on an amputation!”. (She also learned that Sandro had lied to his friends by telling them she didn’t attend their Friday gatherings because she hated football.) Later that night while Theresa showered, Sandro joined her and things got hot and heavy pretty fast...but this time, Theresa noticed that, for the first time since they had been together, he kissed her on the mouth...but this time he didn't tell her to give him a son after sex. When he noticed that Theresa wasn't responding, he asked what was wrong. She said she needed to change the wet sheets because she wasn't sleeping in a wet bed. He laughed and said she was sleeping with him. He called her a stubborn cat and said he was trying to fix things between them. She said he couldn't and when he asked why she responded “Because everything you do now feels insincere and forced!... Every touch, every apology, every endearment…” He said, “...I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about!” That’s when she pointed out he never kissed her in the two years they’d been together. She said she believed it was his “way to keep the btch muzzled and content…”. He asked her what she wanted from him and she told him a divorce. He said, "I’m sorry...I’m so sorry for more things than you could possibly imagine but that’s the one thing I can’t give you.” The next day, Sandro took her shopping and then to lunch. Then he explained the deal her father forced him to make. He also verified that he hadn't given much thought to the actual baby, a child who "never seemed real" to him and that the only thing that really crossed his mind when they had sex was "escape". At home, Theresa asked about the rest of the deal...what had meant so much that he caved to her father's scheme. He said his father was very ill, that there was a vineyard he had to buy back from her dad, and that he had promised his dad he would do whatever he had to in order to do it. He told her his family knew about the deal, and about her supposed part in it. After everything was confessed, Theresa got up to leave and he asked her what about the marriage. She told him it would go on, without the intimacies, that they would lead separate lives. He said he didn't want to live that way. She said it wouldn’t be long since she was pregnant. He offered her a bone, saying he had never cheated on her during their marriage. But then, he had to go and mess it up by saying, "...I know how it looked, but I wasn’t thinking about the consequences…it wasn’t you I was trying to hurt.” Her reply, "So you keep saying...But guess who always wound up getting hurt anyway?” After learning about the baby, Sandro changed again, becoming more protective of Theresa. But, over the next three months, they rarely saw each other…until he decided to find out what was going on with her and the baby. When he heard she was going to see her cousin, he went along to talk business with the woman. She didn't want him to go, but she couldn’t stop him. While there, Lisa asked mentioned her recent visit to the doctor. Using immense pressure, Sandro got Theresa to compromise into letting him attend the rest of her doctor visits, get daily updates on her and the baby's health, and spend two hours together “as a family”. He tried to get her to agree to visit with his friends, but Theresa drew the line there and said no, for they were his friends and not hers, and she didn’t want to be hurt by losing them after they split up. With that agreement, the next month was quite cordial. They got along well and even discussed fixing up the nursery. When Sandro told her his ideas for the room, she realized he had been visiting toy shops for the baby. She was suddenly on emotional overload and needed a break from his company, though he wasn't happy about it and left the room. When he didn't return, she went to apologize, finding him in his study. Hearing the name “Francesca”, the woman he had planned to marry, she froze. Though most of the words were in Italian, she couldn't help but understand the woman's name, and the terms of endearment that Sandro kept using (she knew THOSE words because he used them when they were intimate.). The next morning, he said he couldn’t go to the doctor's with her as he had to prepare for a trip to Italy. She reminded him she was having an amniocentesis test run, and that her cousin could go with her. He didn't want her to be alone while he was in Italy and demanded she stay at her cousin's while he was gone. She said no, got up, and walked away. Her cousin couldn't go with her, so she was surprised to see Sandro. After the test, the doc said to take it easy while they waited for the results. He asked if they wanted to know the baby's sex, but Sandro said no. When she asked him why not, he said it didn’t matter, which Theresa took to mean if it was a boy, a divorce could be granted immediately, but if it was a girl, he would be stuck until a son was born. Realizing she misunderstood, he tried to correct it, but Theresa cut him off, and another argument began outside the doctor's office. He apologized for hurting her and tried to clear up the misunderstanding, "I meant that the baby’s sex made no difference to me either way because I would love it regardless of what it was...". Theresa lost her cool, "Why would you say that? Why would you lie like that? I don’t deserve it, Sandro. I haven’t done anything to deserve any of this but you keep finding new and creative ways to hurt me...Don’t try to pretend that you care...I know you don’t. Five more months of this and you’ll be free to go back to your Francesca and start your real life with a real wife and babies that you will really love!” He seemed stunned by her mentioning the other woman. As the argument got more heated, Theresa's fainted, only to have Sandro catch her as she fell. She woke up in the hospital to angry words between Sandro and the doctor, who was hassling him about the fight between them. The doctor put Theresa on week-long bedrest. She explained to Sandro why she was upset, “I don’t need empty platitudes, Sandro. You don’t have to say anything to make me feel better about our situation. You really don’t have to pretend to care about me or about the baby.” Sandro responded, "What an unholy mess I’ve made of things...Nothing I say now will ever make a difference to how you feel, will it? Everything I try to say or do will come across as desperate and insincere.” Theresa asked him why he was even trying since he was so close to having "everything you want within your grasp, the vineyard, and freedom. Yet you keep trying, coming to me with all of these demands to be involved in my life. Why?". He said it was the wrong time for the chat, and he canceled his trip to Italy because she was more important than business. Over the next three months, they seemed to settle into an amicable friendship, but they didn't sleep together, and Theresa refused to talk to him about the baby, going so far as to discourage such talks. Sandro only traveled to Italy twice during that time, but Theresa still saw photos of him with Francesca during those trips. Since her health wasn't stable, Sandro began to work from home. One night, he told her his father was dying and he wanted her to meet him before that happened. Knowing neither one could travel, Sandro set up a video call, which went better than she had thought it would until his grandmother came on and ruined it by saying, “You make my family miserable! You take my grandson and keep him away from his family, keep him away from his dying father. You nothing but selfish. Why you want a man who no love you? No pride…you no pride. He love a good woman, he no love you!”, which reminded her of how things were between her and Sandro. In the wee hours of the morning, a call came in, informing Sandro his father had passed away. Theresa helped him pack for his trip, not knowing how long he would be gone. Though he promised to call her every day, he didn’t. After more than a month of Sandro being in Italy, Theresa’s spirits fell until, one day her cousin and cousin’s husband came to get her, packing some of her things. Apparently, a story had broken in the news that Sandro had been blackmailed into their marriage, and that he had filed for divorce. Suddenly she realized that, with the death of his father, he didn't have to stay married to her and, to her way of thinking, explained why he had not kept his promise to call daily. When she kept making excuses for Sandro, Rick (her cousin’s husband) made the astonishing comment, “My God, it’s like you have battered-wife syndrome. Stop making excuses for him. He’s an ass who hurt you time and again.” (And that pretty much summed up WHY Theresa treated Sandro the way she did for the entirety of the story.) So she left their home and went to stay with her cousins…only to have Sandro show up and plead for her to return, saying he hadn’t filed for divorce, that all the rumors were lies…that he did not love, desire, or want Francesca, that “those are feelings reserved for you…only for you.” But she was no longer focused on his words for, suddenly, Theresa doubled over in pain. The baby was coming…a month early. After many hours of labor, with Sandro at her side the whole time (though she’d wanted her cousin instead because “I wanted somebody I trusted in there with me,”), Theresa gave birth to a beautiful daughter…and, even though she fell in love with her daughter at first sight, it meant Sandro was stuck with her until she gave him a son. Sandro noticed her lack of enthusiasm at the birth of a girl, and he wasn’t happy. Theresa’s father (who only put in two appearances and one phone call in the whole book) visited her in the hospital and tried to stir up trouble, but neither Sandro nor Theresa gave him an inch. Theresa finally stood up to her father for the first time in her life, though he still treated her like sht. Sandro sent him away, saying he no longer had a place in the family. Sandro tried to convince Theresa that he was happy with having a daughter..that if she only gave birth to girls “for the next twenty years, I would consider myself blessed.”. But she couldn’t let herself believe him. When Lily was six weeks old, Sandro again told her that he loved her, but she was unable to return the sentiment, much to his disappointment. But that didn’t stop him from saying it at least once a day. Three weeks later, on Theresa’s birthday, her cousin called to take her and the baby out for the day, so long as Sandro didn’t have plans. Thinking he wasn’t aware that it was her birthday, she agreed to go with Lisa. Later that night, after getting a message from her husband saying he was working late, Theresa’s cousin decided that she and Rick would take Theresa and the baby out for a fancy dinner…except when they got to the restaurant, she was shocked when she realized Sandro had thrown her a surprise birthday party…and said he was learning things about her that he should have known all along. During the party, there was another surprise…Sandro’s mother and two of his sisters had come from Italy to meet her and Lily…and it was a good, healing visit. Later that night, Theresa told Sandro she wanted to return to their bed. When his response was less than thrilling, she asked why. He said yes, he wanted her to return to their bed but he also wanted her to forgive him, and to love and trust again, but that, no matter what he did, she kept her emotions locked away, and he didn’t know what else he could say or do to convince her that he had changed. Then he offered her the present he’d wanted to give her for her birthday…the deed to the vineyard that started all the heartaches. He said she could do whatever she wanted with it, just so she knew it no longer mattered more to him than she did: “You’re the sun I revolve around, and without you…”. She then said it was time for him to tell her about Francesca…which he did, and proved to her that the other woman was nothing more to him than a friend. By the end of their talk, they had both confessed their love for each other, and Sandro said he wanted to marry her again, this time with his family present. There was a tremendous about of pain and anguish in this story, but it showed a man who was determined to win the heart of the woman he had so cruelly crushed because of her father’s mistakes, and it showed a woman who had been devastated, both by the man she loved and a father who, it seemed, would never love her in return. Watching the growth of these two characters was pretty spectacular. This book definitely deserved a five-star rating and a place with the Keeper for the Shelves collection…as well as the physical shelf it will sit on once it arrives in the mail.

You should write a warning of Spoiler, or write your own book and stop ruining the reading experience to others. When giving an opinion there is no need to write a summary of the book.
