An urgent dilemma…
To save her impoverished family, Marian Langley will become a mistress. But she will not be just any mistress. Marian intends to become so skilled, so coveted, that she can set her own terms, retaining control over her body and her fate. Only one problem remains: finding a tutor…

A scandalous solution…
Other men deprive themselves of pleasure for propriety’s sake. Nathaniel, Duke of Warrington, would much rather be depraved. He slakes his desires with professionals who ask nothing of him but his coin. Marian’s proposal—that he train her without taking her virtue—is an intriguing diversion, until their lessons in seduction spin out of control.

And a most unlikely duchess…
When Marian is blackmailed into engagement by a man she despises, Nate impulsively steals her away. Though he never intended to take a wife, he can’t tolerate the idea of Marian forfeiting her freedom to another. But can he bear to give her what she demands—a real marriage?

The Duke’s Stolen Bride, Book 5 in The Rogue Files series, was about Marian Langley, a young woman (and former governess/companion to Lady Clara Autenberry) whose father died leaving her and her siblings in dire straits, and Nathaniel "Nate", Duke of Warrington (also called the Depraved Duke), a man who lived for depravity and thumbing his nose at Society. Marian, knowing she needed to find a way to provide for her family, made a decision to become a mistress to wealthy men of the ton. Having spoken with a friend who was a former courtesan, she realized she would need someone who would train her in the ways of a courtesan without ruining her. Having made that decision, the only person she knew of who might assist her was the Duke of Warrington. After making the proposition to the Duke, and him having declined the offer, Nate told Pearson, his friend, and man of affairs, about it. When Pearson agreed that there was no way he could last a fortnight without sex, the two men made a wager: the Duke wagered that he could teach Marian without taking her virtue and Pearson said he couldn't last that long. He was determined to prove he was neither weak nor ruled by his body or baser instincts. With that in mind, Nate went in search of Marian to accept her offer. Having learned of Marian in the previous book in this series, and knowing how she was with Clara, I found her to be ... disingenuous ... in this book. She did not appear to be quite so naive in the previous book. In fact, she was quite knowledgeable when Clara was contemplating getting married. I'm not certain how an author justifies the Jeckyl/Hyde of a character. Although in the previous book Marian did state that she was virtuous, she also admitted to permitting certain...liberties...with male servants. Yet in this book, she acted like a total novice. The chemistry and passion were hot between Marian and Nate. Every time they were close to each other, it was like a 5-alarm fire. The drama and angst were very high as well. There was some humor when needed, but for the most part, it was an emotional rollercoaster ride. There were so many surprises in this book that the reader definitely did not put it down till the end. Yes, another 5-star rating and an additional Keeper for the Shelves book to the collection.
