The Duke and the Lady, Book 2 in The Unwanted Dukes series, was about Sebastian Fielding, the Duke of Waverly (aka the Beastly Duke), and Lady Louisa Darby, the second eldest daughter of the sixth Duke of Ravenwood, sister to the now seventh Duke of Ravenwood. Tricked by a scoundrel, Louisa found herself in a compromising situation. Sebastian, fearing for her safety, followed into a darkened room. Defending her honor, he swiftly dealt with the situation, only to find himself and Louisa in a position where he had to offer marriage to her. Because of certain things that happened in his life, Sebastian had decided he would never allow himself to love anyone. In fact, he had been determined to never marry. Only honor had forced him to protect Louisa's reputation. It wasn't until the wedding night, however, that he informed HER of that decision...which shattered her. Believing herself to be responsible for the death of their mother when she was five years old, Louisa had set herself up to never cause anyone else any further pain or tragedy. So, when she found herself compromised, she decided to "fix" things by marrying Sebastion to protect him..and her sister Johanna. She didn't want either of their reputations to be tarnished by her choices. Louisa was intent on being the perfect duchess for Sebastian so as to never cause him embarrassment or scandal. As secrets from the past began to unravel for both Sebastian and Louisa, pain, anger, remorse, and regret rose to the surface. There was also a load of chemistry and passion for the couple. There was a good deal of angst and drama, sprinkled with only a touch of humor. This book definitely earned a 5-star rating and a place with the other Keeper for the shelves novels.
