She didn’t believe in fairy tales… until she fell for a prince.
Single mother, Leia Lawrence didn’t have a storybook childhood.
Now? Dating… men…? She’d rather stay in her tower of solitude.
Until her path crosses with the heir to the British throne.
He should be the bad boy the press portray him as.
He isn’t.
He should be as arrogant as the rich elites she despises.
He isn’t
He should be easy to walk away from.
Oh, boy, he isn’t.
Oliver is nothing like the man she expects. Smart, funny and caring, he could push through every defence she has in place.
But one passing moment could change everything. It could bring the press to her door and unbury secrets she thinks are long dead.
What will he be willing to do to protect her?
She has nowhere left to turn, except to her prince.
The only thing she can do is wait and see if he’ll choose to protect his country… or her…

Tabloid Princess, Book 1 of the Tabloid Princess duet, was about 22-year-old Leia Lawrence, a single mother of a six-year-old daughter and the marketing manager for "Bright Futures" charity, and 30-year-old Prince Oliver Beaufort, the future King of England.

Leia, who worked for a charity that worked with troubled families, came from a background that included a mother who had been a drug addict and worked the streets. At the age of 15, Leia had been at a party where she was drugged and s*xually assaulted, which resulted in her having a baby at the age of 16. The charity she worked for was also the same one that had helped her survive and become a successful mother and adult.

It was through the charity that Leia met Prince Oliver. He was looking for new charities to support, and hers happened to be one of them. From the moment they met, the sparks flew, even though she was a commoner and he was royalty. They tried to make things work for them, but the press was out to vilify her at every turn.

The book was full of OTT angst and drama, much of which was made worse by the FMC's fear of her past damaging her daughter's present and future. The emotional rollercoaster had so many twists and turns that it was nauseating at times. The push-pull between the two main characters was out of proportion to the angst and drama and made for an unpleasant reading session.

The MMC was fully developed and mature, but the FMC seemed to have been stunted at the age of 15 and unwilling to grow up until it was too late. The secondary characters saved the story time after time, but the best part was the MMC. He stole the show and kept the book from receiving a very low rating. There were times that my heart broke for the man, simply because he wanted to be happy, but his position in life kept that from happening. He was often self-deprecating, which broke my heart.

The book had many grammatical and punctuation errors, but it was the length that did the story in. The information dump was uncalled for, and it made the book boring and unfulfilling. I could only give it a three-star rating Since it ended in a cliffhanger, I will have to read Book 2 to see how things turned out for the two main characters.
