Despite T B’s comment I still find myself loving the book and the series’s ending. There will always be things we would have written different, but that’s the fun about books. You never know what will happen next. If the character is a hypocrite, then maybe it really added something to the storyline. Imagine that being different… the whole series has been about them finding love through everything else, it would have felt unnatural that all of a sudden she’d be able to set aside every doubt. I laughed, grinned, and cried… that are signs for me that a book was good. (My opinion though) The ending was fitting and heartbreaking as well as loving. Really enjoyed the ending of this beautiful series!🌹

But apart from these issues it is a good story from start to finish.

      SPOILERS AHEAD!

This was such an anticipated book but it left me with conflicted feelings. I liked and disliked it in equal measure. To start with the talk Lilac has with Cora when they are alone is on point. She (Cora) can’t say Rush deserves a second chance with she is being such a hypocrite about it no matter what the circumstances. Her inner thoughts that Lilac should stay out of her business was also a little off putting. If the situation had been reversed and instead of a male’s friend telling off a woman, a woman’s friend told off a male I’m sure the author would have been more sympathetic to the woman and more harsh on the man for being hypocrite. But here when it’s a woman it’s just brushed off. Also didn’t like Rush telling Lilac off for being a friend when the same wouldn’t be if the situation was reversed. In fact the woman would have told her friend thanks for having my back and would have thought that the friend only had her well being in mind. Another one that bothered me was that she kept denying Rush’s love till the end. Even when he was dying and all her feelings came to surface she was back to ‘no we can’t be together’ always taking a cowards way out instead of fighting for him. Even till the end she stayed conflicted. Another one was that the author diminished Rush’s character so that Cora could come out as all powerful. I mean the guy was fused with a dragon for thousands of years, was a general on the bad side before becoming good, was instrumental in the Great War. It’s like the author forgot all these points and made him a mediocre hero when he was not. All this just to let Cora shine? Please give me a break. These things are what spoiled a great story for me.
