This review might appear quite long. However, it's not because it is three separate reviews for the three separate novellas included in this anthology. The first review is of A CHRISTMAS ABDUCTION, by Madeline Hunter, which was about Lord Adam Prescott, Baron Thornhill, a cousin to the Marquess of Haverdale, and Miss Caroline Dunham, the eldest daughter of the late Mr. Dunham, a man who raised, raced, and bred thoroughbred horses. While traveling by post carriage to his cousin's for the holiday, Adam was abducted when they stopped at a coaching inn for a respite. Upon finally realizing who had taken him, he also thought he had determined why it had occurred. When he confronted Caroline with his thoughts, he was swiftly corrected in the error of his thoughts. However, he did manage to escape the locked room in which he had been placed, but he swore an oath that he would not leave until he gained an understanding as to her motives. Caroline, though she had taken Adam with thoughts of forcing him to do the right thing for once in his miserable life, was quite enamored with him, although she didn't let him know that. Once she had informed him of why he was her prisoner, he demanded proof. When things came to a head, and the truth came out, Caroline did not know what to do, but Adam had some ideas. The characters were both a bit of a milksop. For a man who was depicted as a rake and debaucher of women, Adam did not really live up to that description. He appeared more weak-willed than strong. Caroline, who at first seemed bold and as though she had a strength of character, was more of a milksop than Adam. She let him run roughshod over her when she was supposed to be the one in charge of things. The storyline was just a tad boring, to be honest, as well as ludicrous. The emotions were weak and really didn't hold up well. The attraction, though apparent, was lame and the passion minuscule. For such a short story, it was decent enough. Perhaps not four-star worthy, but it was a nice, mellow book. Now for the review of the second book in this anthology.

A PERFECT MATCH by Sabrina Jeffries, Book 1.5 of the Duke Dynasty series, was about Miss Cassandra "Cass" Isles and Colonel Lord Heywood Wolfe, half-brother to both the Duke of Greycourt and the Duke of Thornstock. While attending a Christmas ball, Cass was intent on rescuing her cousin from a nefarious man intent on either ruining her or forcing her into an unwanted marriage. As she was seeking her out, Cass ran into Heywood. Carrying a message from her cousin's brother, Heywood requested she should retrieve Kitty in order for him to be able to deliver it to her. While she was doing so, he overheard a conversation that forced him to take drastic actions and remove both Cass and Kitty from the ball immediately. Although Heywood and Cass felt the immediate attraction between them, Heywood determined he needed to court her cousin, Kitty, for her dowry in order to save his estate. He was unaware that Cass was an heiress in her own right. The premise for this storyline was a good deal better than some of the previous stories in the series. While it was shorter, it was no less endearing. The characters weren't quite as milksop as in one of the first books. They were stronger and better developed. The emotions ran the gamut with a bit of intrigue tossed in to give it a good kick to make it interesting. Still not a five-star book, but definitely better than a three-star story.

As the third book in this anthology is a part of a much larger series, I won't put the review here. So, this ends my reviews for this anthology.
