“Hey, my eyes are up here!”
If I had a dollar for every time I wanted to say that out loud, I’d be rich beyond the dreams of avarice.
It’s not like I’m anything special. It’s just women at this brokerage firm are few and far between.
I want to be taken seriously, and I want a career that’s exciting.
It’s bad enough that my personal life is boring and passionless. I couldn’t handle it if my professional life was, as well.
I hear the low rumble of a male voice behind me.
Gregory Fox, my boss. A man of few words.
There’s nothing whatsoever boring about him.
His eyes are like green fire, and his face is a beautifully chiseled work of art.
There’s so much heat in those eyes, but there’s something else there, too. Something hidden. Something dark.
Though I want to succeed in my new career, that success depends largely on him.
And the more time I spend with him, the more I worry that those heated eyes of his will burn me to the ground.
Am I ready?

Nice story with some plot twists but too short it could have been developed better. The end felt rushed trying to close out all the subplots. Dark parts were sad and showed Mindy with real strength of character.
