All Tesera can remember is life as an exhibit in an alien zoo. At this point, she’s not sure if hope even exists. Now, she’s sent away to a “holiday satellite” to be bred—but she’s not about to go down without a stubborn, possibly completely futile fight. The last thing she expects is for her breeder to be a cyborg—a.k.a., an altered human, trapped just like she is.

Zeke has kept his remaining humanity carefully concealed. It’s easy enough, when his only jobs as a cyborg are assassinations and murders. But when he’s given a “break” for a new assignment—being forced to create another human—his control is tested. He’s not ready for Tesera to see right through his defenses and bring his humanity out.
He will do anything for her freedom. She’ll do anything for his. But what is freedom without the one you love?
