Obligation – an act or course of action to which a person is morally or legally
bound; a duty or commitment.
As soon as I saw her, I knew exactly who she was. A snake, born with venom in
her blood and poison in her veins.
I’m Clay Jansen, a king among men. But wearing the crown means dealing with
the duty and expectation that’s been mine since birth.
January Burke is nothing more than an obligation; a business deal that was
sealed with vows not contracts.
But my poisonous new bride is a snake, bred from a den of vipers.
Family expectation might have forced me to entwine my life with hers, but I won’t
be taken in by the good girl façade she’s wearing.
So I watch her. Play with her until I know every move she makes, and every word
she says. But once I see her, it’s impossible to look away.
Freedom is all she craves and the only thing I can’t give her.
I should let her go, but I couldn’t if I tried.
Obligation has become obsession… and she’s all mine.

Sigh...nothing grates at my nerves like authors attempting to write a "dark romance" storyline with barely adult characters; it just doesn't make sense. the stalker, morally grey, burn-the-world-for-her, just doesn't land. touch her and die-." MY GUY YOU HAVE A MATH TEST AT 9 AM LMAOOOOOOOOO that being said, this book was at its best immature and at its worst a waste of your fucking time. you're promised a dark romance, and you get hormonal rich teens that think they are older than they are, with 0 emotional regulation, no logic, no nothing. im sure if you dig deep enough, a decent story exists in the in-between of the slop i forced myself to finish. Girl grew up in a toxic, abusive, and misogynistic family and was forced into an arranged marriage for reasons we're not privy to until the last couple of chapters, when the mmc "takes them down" in a fit of rage because the girl left him. "We're not normal. we're psychos," damn right, and as much as Gemma thought she was creating a complex group of mmcs, they all were fucking annoying to me, from sebastian to Evan, hell, even the spineless women. 1/10.

“God, I need a man crazy enough to stalk me,” Sammy sighs dramatically. “Oh well, let’s go and get our dance and drink on. I can hear the cocktails calling me from here, and nothing cures man drama better than shots.” Relatable really relatable.
