I really should’ve known better than to play around with that old book of spells…

How was I supposed to know that the incantations scrawled inside of it worked? That the first one I read would open a portal into a demon plane — or that the next one was an unbreakable vow to the seven foot tall shadow monster I unwittingly summoned into my bedroom?
He says his name is Malphas, that he’s something called a Sombra demon, and I’m his mate.
Monster, demon… whatever he is, his muscles are bigger than my head, and that club between his legs… I don’t know if mate means the same thing to him as it does me, but he’s gotta be kidding.
Spoiler alert: he’s not.
Mal has been waiting for more than a thousand years for the one woman meant for him. He’s convinced that’s me, and he’s willing to do anything to prove it. And maybe there’s something really wrong with me because, before long, I find myself eager to let him try…

I did not finish this book. I couldn’t continue because of the female lead. She was kinda rude to the male lead, and she was very dismissive of him. It also felt very much one sided like the male lead was instantly devoted to the female lead, but the female lead was just rude throughout.

Do you have any recommendations that are like this book? But with a more likeable female lead?

Not my favorite. I felt the FMC was unlikable and a bit of a narcissist. The writting wasn't the greatest either, details were inconsistent and there are a lot of mistakes. Generally I don't like when author feel the need repeat things they've already said in different words multiple times. It's just filler. I felt bad for the MMC, it was very much a one sides worshipful relationship for most of the book, an despite the HEA, the emotions still felt unbalanced in the epilogue.

Isabela Rouillard : What do you mean by they assumed pronouns ??? I'm confused what you mean by that. What does that have to do with the authors story?? Are you talking about Malphas. Because the author says he is male, so it would be He/Him. But not everyone uses pronouns, and that is ok. But to project/force you beliefs on someone because they don't fit, or please your way of thinking is wrong. The author created this fictional character so they get to decide what they are, even if they are not human beings they can still be male, or female if the author wants them to be. So PLEASE STOP leaving comments like this about PRONOUNS, on books with fictional characters that aren't human. This is like the second, or third time I've seen a comment like this from you on these types of books 📚.

Malphas is indeed a man who use he/him pronouns and in itself there’s no problem with that. What I critique is that in the book she assumes he is a men base on is apparence and that he use the pronouns he/him instead of asking. And yes Iet lots of comment about this because I think we should normalise asking people their pronouns even in book.

*spoiler not everything was perfect, they assumed pronoun and he doesn’t tell her everything she need to know. But except that there is no mention of baby not once and there clear audible consent from both parties which made me super happy. It was honestly pretty good
