My new neighbor is a firefighter—and a scorching hot single dad—but I swear I didn’t set off that smoke alarm on purpose.
(And I was beyond mortified when he rushed in and saw me naked.)

Nothing happened, of course—because I, Winnie MacAllister, romance junkie and owner of a constantly broken heart, have sworn off men for one solid year.

Even protective men with chiseled jaws, bulging biceps, and deep brown eyes that make my breath come faster. Even former SEALs with broad chests and strong hands that make my skin sizzle. Even gorgeous, grumpy guys who have their hands full raising two adorable little girls and claim they don’t believe in love.
Until Dex kisses me one night, and I drop all my defenses.
(Also my underwear.)

He says he’s not gentle, and he’s right. He says I should take the dream job I’m offered in another state, and he’s right. He says he’s too old for me and could never be the man I deserve.
He’s wrong.

Dex and I might be twelve years apart, but the fire between us is the kind that will never burn out.
How can I convince him to give happily-ever-after with me a chance?

Super cute sweet romance. Loved how the kids were apart of the story. Single divorced dad and the story actually had them be a part of it.

Cute romance and yes the Ogre does get the Princess at the end. Dex’s fear to love and Minnie’s ease of falling in love did have its trials and did make you weepy at the end but love rules and of course a happy ever after. The kids are adorable and certainly add the humour to the storyline. Of course Dex’s grand gesture to show his love was little over the top but funny and did fit the script as did the epilogue but you can’t have a happy ever after with out all the sugary moments. Nice read with a hot sexy fireman!!

Great book, I loved the kids the best. I agree the epilogue was a bit much. My only complaint is I'm getting tired of books where one of the leads constantly goes back and forth so much saying how much they love the other but can't be with them, usually because of a past experience.

It's so good! But the ending was too cringe so I skipped it. However, I acknowledge that Winnie loves big gestures, so it was perfect for her.
