A lame doormat.

That’s how Emily Craven sees herself. Three months ago, she was kidnapped by her father’s enemy. She spends most of her days serving her captor, waiting for when he will finally kill her. She has no idea why she is still alive. Much to her shame, she is attracted to the man who took her.

Dom Wylde is a cruel man. There is one person he cannot stand, and it’s Emily’s father. He will do whatever it takes to kill him. However, what Emily doesn’t know is he owed her mother a debt.

Emily’s father intended to sell her virginity to the highest bidder, and now it is up to him to keep her safe. At first, Emily is willing to do whatever it takes for her freedom. Dom wants her body, and she would gladly give it to him. What surprises Dom, is Emily is not all that she seems.

What starts as a game, soon changes as he … demands marriage. He will bring all of her forbidden desires to life, in return, she must be his wife. There is no alternative. Emily belongs to him.

But, there is still the threat of her father. Will he be able to keep her safe?

His Virgin Wife was about 40-year-old Dom Wylde, owner of several legal (and not so legal) businesses, and Emily Craven, age and career unknown.

The book started with Dom having already kidnapped Emily several months earlier. Unknown to her, Emily's mother had done Dom a good turn years earlier, and he returned the favor by taking Emily from her father as he had done to protect her. She was constantly worried he was going to end her life, but all she did was serve him meals, walk with him in the garden, and return to her room when she had nothing else to do. She had not been allowed off the premises. When she asked Dom what it would take for him to release her, he gave her his terms, to which she agreed after much deliberation. One thing led to another, and she ended up married to him.

There was very little angst, hardly any drama, and absolutely no on-page conflict. Everything was talked about, but no action was ever shown on-page except for the few spicy scenes that were more cringeworthy than appealing. Even the emotional rollercoaster was dull and boring. Anything that appeared to be the cause of conflict was all dealt with off-page, and so swiftly that the reader could have gotten whiplash. As soon as an issue arose, it was swept away without ever knowing what happened. Every potential that this book had for going somewhere just...vanished into thin air and was never read again.

There were only 3 characters who put in an appearance in the book (although others were briefly mentioned): Emily, Dom, and Emily's mother, Nora. The timeline of the story was basically unknown. While we were told 3 months had passed since he had taken her captive, the rest of the time was a complete mystery. There was hardly any background info for any of the characters, and nothing of consequence. No one showed any growth or maturing, either.

The wording in this book was so juvenile that it made it feel as though an uneducated teenager had decided to try their hand at writing a book of smut and, while the author didn't seem to have a problem with "dirty words", it appeared that the word "A$$" was too much and had to be substituted with "butt". Even the spicy scenes were more juvenile than titillating. Since this was a book that talked about "mafia-ish ways", there were many naive things that the FMC did that anyone who truly understood how to write about such things would never do. For instance, the FMC wanted to talk to her new hubby about "taking care of it" when it came to dealing with her father. Rather than talking about it safely in their home, she took him to an unprotected cafe and broached the subject there. A very immature step for anyone who knows it was a wrong move to make.

The story was not only very repetitive, but the author also made errors in information. First, the FMC didn't know how long she'd been held captive, only to state a few sentences later that it was "nearing three months now". And then the FMC nudged the MMC to the sofa, but instead he "fell into the chair". Umm...okay, so what happened to the sofa?! The overuse of a character's name in a paragraph soon got annoying as well. And talk about mastering the art of being Captain Obvious, the author had the MMC thinking "She wanted him. It was right there in her eyes.", while the FMC was on her knees about to give him a BJ.

All in all, this was a waste of time and not at all enjoyable. It was more cringeworthy than likeable, and it didn't merit more than a one-star rating, and that was given for the absolute bare minimum of effort that was put into writing this...whatever name you want to call it.
