I was assigned to play in the Fae Bachelorette… so I wrote a letter to the Society asking to put me in Survival of the Mated instead.
That sounds crazy, doesn’t it?
It feels kind of crazy.
But I’ve seen the guys on Survival. I know the guys on Survival.
And there’s one I want as my mate.
So, I’m walking onto the island of my own free will.
I’ll ally myself with the best candidate, and I’ll play this game any way I have to… because if I have to take a mate, I’m taking the man I want.

This was a fun bit of fantasy series. The general premise, no spoilers, is that this is a future where women are mated to fae. There's a popular game show where one woman spends an alotted time with a group of fae and, through a series of competition, fae are slowly voted off the island one by one. Survivors but fantasy romance. The fae species, each male has so long to find his mate before he starts a slow withering death.

Now some possible spoilers: All of the 3 books had their good and bad points and, while maybe the weakest story, this was the perfect way to end it. I liked Kyle, the lovable self sacrificing fae from the first two books. Resigned to death, he spends the other stories helping the women ensure they end up with the male they prefer. As this story opens, he's got very little time left and, after so much disappointment, has decided to die off with dignity and accept his fate.

Launa the female lead, is a dedicated fan of the show and fell hard for Kyle's looks and genuine good guy character. She writes and pleads to be on the show and immediately tells him, I want you, get us to the finale and I'm yours. They hook up and strategize how to win. From Kyle's past seasons on the show, none of the other males see him as a threat and the rest of the book passes quickly. This book doesn't really go into the challenges and the males facing off like the other two did. A little bit of plotting, they get their happy ending. It's overly sappy, short of plot and character development, but seeing poor Kyle finally get a chance was what I needed.
