In a single moment, she becomes my obsession…

Elaine Constantine will be mine.
And her destruction is only my beginning.

I’ve known all my life that the Constantines deserved to be wiped from the face of the earth, only a smoking crater left where their mansion once stood. That’s my plan until I see her, the woman in gold with the sinful curves and the blonde curls. My will to dominate her runs as deep as the hate I have for her last name.

No matter how beautifully she bends beneath my hands, I’ll leave her shattered, a broken toy for her cruel family.

I’m a sadist, and she’s the object of my obsession.

dark, stupid, and frustrating. Society girl was sexually abused pretty horrifically by family members but couldn't tell so she's taking out her pain through drugs and reckless behavior (although not sex, surprisingly) So she falls for a sadist obsessed with destroying her family. The Author really wants you to know how evil Lucien is--she makes sure to reiterate it every other page. The book seems to be setting up for a part two but the sluggish pacing, the way the plot gets dragged out....won;t be reading that. Everything is sort of hinted at but never said, which I found annoying. You want me to care for this girl and be invested in her story, then convince me why. Don't expect me the reader to try to figure out whether I want to care or not.

She has all these problems and all you do is expound on them--Why? What is going on in her head? Give me a reason to want to see what happens to her, rather than endlessly spinning about how out of control she is
