Going Down Fast, Book 2 of the Billionaire Bad Boys series, was a tad better than the first book. It at least had more grit, more substance, and more of a storyline than its predecessor. Still, there were things that just...well, it just didn't have the proper flow most books contain. Unlike Book 1, the drama and angst started from the very first page and didn't really let up until the end. This book was shorter than the first one, being only eleven chapters long...and did not include an epilogue. There were quite a few inconsistencies and errors throughout the story. For instance, at one point in the book, the author had the MMC shouting out the name "Lexie" (the name of the FMC from book 1) instead of Maxie, which was the name of the FMC of THIS story. There were other similar errors that were irritating to read about. The FMC of this story had grown up with the MMC but, instead of marrying HIM (she had been in love with him for a long time), she married his older brother instead. Though the MMC had been in love with the FMC forever, he never shared his feelings with her and lost her to his brother. After his brother died, things went south for the FMC, and the MMC stepped up to the plate and was there for her, as he always had been. There was talk of emotional and psychological abuse, but that was not between the two main characters. Instead, that had been between the FMC and her late husband. Because of how he had treated her throughout their marriage, the FMC didn't really want to depend on the MMC for anything. In fact, she didn't want to depend on ANY man (or ANYONE) other than herself. She wanted her independence because she had been pretty much isolated from everyone because of her late husband. Because of all this, the FMC didn't treat the MMC well at all, and that caused quite a bit of tension between them. She was a bit stunted in her maturity because of this. As for the MMC, his brother had been a bully to him growing up, and their parents had favored his older sibling over him for all their lives, even up to (and not ending with) the death of his brother. This treatment made him a bit bitter. However, of the two main characters, the MMC was definitely the more mature. There was a good plot twist that finally kicked in about halfway through the story. It kept the reader's interest better than that of the first book. Still, it was lacking in cohesion. It had a good deal of fluff that smothered the storyline and detracted from the flow of the plot. That caused the book to lose a star or two, giving the story only a 3-star rating. It just needed a bit more tweaking and it would have gotten a better rating.
