I never would have imagined being trapped in an elevator with my father’s best friend would ignite desires that we both were unable to deny. But all that lust between us came tumbling out, and despite our scorching hot attraction, and even steamier tryst, I swore it was a one-time thing.
Never to happen again.
At least that’s what I told myself.
Kurt, however, didn’t feel the same.
He was possessive and deliciously dominant, leaving no doubts in my mind that regardless of our age difference, and him being a long-time family friend and his daughter being my bestie, that I was the woman he wanted.
I found myself in his bed on a regular basis, until I felt utterly consumed and addicted to him. And even when I swore it was the end, there was no walking away from this man . . .
Because Kurt Blackwell was now my baby daddy.

*Forbidden Promises is a steamy age gap, best friend’s dad romance with a guaranteed happily ever after!

Forbidden Promises, Book 4 of the Forbidden Love mini-series, was about 26-year-old Kathryn "Kitty" Lily (Thomas), a strong independent woman, who was applying for a job at a law firm in Boston, and 4oish-year-old Kurt Blackwell, a contractor who was based in Boston, and her father's BFF (and HER BFF's father).

Kurt had known Kitty since she was a baby, having been her father's BFF for years. She was also BFF's with Kurt's daughter. Kurt and Kitty hadn't seen each other for years when they suddenly met at the elevator that led to a well-known law office. She was going for an interview and Kurt was going to hire an attorney to handle a delicate situation for him at the same law firm. (Kitty, whose middle name Lily was her mother's maiden name, decided she didn't want to be given a job because of her famous attorney father, so she used her middle name as her surname when she went for a job interview with one of the more prestigious law firms in Boston.)

After entering the elevator together, they were almost immediately trapped when it jerked to a halt between floors. Kitty had always suffered from the fear of small spaces and started to have a panic attack, but Kurt calmed her down, only for things to turn intimate immediately. They had been stuck for a few hours before the elevator started moving again.

The spiciness of the book moved at a rapid pace straight out of the starting gate and never truly slowed down. The angst was a bit high since there was a familial connection as well as a professional one. Even the drama was a bit high. As things progressed, the emotional rollercoaster kicked into gear and threw in all the usual twists and turns one expects in such a story.

The two main characters were well-developed and mature, with plenty of room for growth. There was a lot of push/pull by the FMC regarding the relationship and, at times she couldn't make up her mind whether or not to stay with the MMC

At one point in the story, the author switched the name of the MMC's daughter with that of the FMC. In an internalized comment, Kurt said to himself, "I looked at Soph as she slept in my arms...". However, "Soph" was his daughter's name, NOT the FMC's name. EEWW! Then later in the story, the author changed the name of the MMC's ex-wife from "Linda" to "Laura". That is such a disappointing thing to deal with, that an author can't keep the names of the characters they create straight. Also, the grammatical errors, the number of misspelled/misused words, and the wrong punctuation were atrocious and plentiful. Enough to detract from reading the story.

While it had so many grammatical issues, the story was still well-written and enjoyable. It was a very good ending to a decent series. I gave it a four-star rating because I liked it that much.
