Falling for a Grumpy Hero by Weston Parker
I don’t do small talk. Don’t do mornings. Don’t do smiling.
I run my firm like I ran my unit of marines—tight, quiet, no distractions.
Then she walked into my office.
Curvy. Gorgeous. Relentlessly cheerful.
And the most irritating woman I’ve ever met.
She’s my new assistant. All sunshine and questions and bright blue eyes that see too much.
She hums while she works. Talks to my dog like he’s royalty.
And for reasons I don’t like one bit… I can’t stop watching her.
She’s off-limits. Wrong for me in every way.
But I want her.
Need her.
And that’s the problem—
Because the second I reach for her, there’s no going back.

Grumpy boss with PTSD trauma slowly falling for the sunny assistant. Ford struggled with his trauma which played out the emotional involvement and growing attraction with his assistant Lila. Lila was determined to show Ford he was worth loving. The book focused on Ford overcoming his trauma and letting Lila into his life. Slow burn with good chemistry but dragged out a little too long building slowly letting Ford work through his demons. Lila had some of her own demons but not enough detail was provided to get better context. Nice story nothing earth shattering more emotional focus on veteran trauma and overcoming the past and having a life.
