Ecstasy by K.V. Rose
Zara.
Eli.
Alex.
Three students at Caven U who are all really, really f*cking tired of life.
Zara has a substance problem. Eli is a star athlete with a secret. And Alex? He’s just a f*cking a**hole.
Their paths collide one night at a party that quickly spirals out of control. A series of volatile moments follow, enveloping the three of them in a whirlwind of drama, drugs, and destruction.
Zara feels like she’s slipping under, losing her grip on reality. And if she isn’t careful, one of the boys just might pull her all the way down.
But the thing about almost dying at the hands of someone you hate?
In the moment before you take your last breath, the fear can feel a lot like…ecstasy.
And that’s a high you only get once in a lifetime.

PLEASE UPLOAD OMINOUS BY KV ROSE
2 stars...... Before I comment on this book, I want to say I absolutely adore KV Rose. I think she has a unique foresight into showing her readers the darker side of human behavior and.....making us love it, no matter how deviant and socially unacceptable the story may be,
I did not like Zara at all. Not at any point in the story did I feel any empathy for her and the dismal situation she created all by herself. She had problems but did have resources for help at her disposal. She was just too self-centered for me.
Eli. Eli. Eli. My heart shattered for him. I wept for this man who had no one. He had a never-present father who was an adulterer who hid behind the veil of his church and a mother who left him, who tried to kill him, simply because he wasn't enough. He isolated himself from everyone around him. Protecting himself from other's scrutiny with bravado, deception, and polished charisma.
Eli gravitated to Zara because he saw himself. He saw her pain, confusion, and need for attention. acceptance, and love. Both being broken spirits, he thought they were made for one another. He thought she could give him peace and love that no one ever had before.
I didn't think Zara deserved Alex's love and devotion. He never gave up on her regardless of what crap she pulled. Even three years after the "end", and she and Alex are married, she still believes his love and what he has given her is not enough. She continues to think of Eli, his wildness and sense of freedom to do whatever he wanted, and his acceptance of her erratic behavior and wonders to herself......what if... What if she had ended up with him.
The ending. It simply crushed me. I don't know how I would have had the story finish but, I do know it wouldn't have been as it was. I was too invested in Eli and loved him even while his actions were not right. Honestly.....the way the whole scene took place and where it was, just no-no-no. It was all too tragic. He didn't deserve that kind of finish. How could Zara ever swim in that pool again is beyond me.
I so loved KV's series "Unsainted" and highly recommend it. I guess I was hoping this book would be more like that. So, this story just wasn't for me but I can see many fans loved it. That's cool. I will most definitely continue reading KV's books.
