I should have known.
I don’t mess with girls during the season. There’s too much to do and everyone relies on me. And I’m not the greatest player in the world. I’m good, but I’m the guy that has to use every inch of talent I have just to compete. I’m using baseball to get where I want to go after college.
But I lost that dumb bet and I had to go talk to Carly Paddack.
And I’m not gonna lie.
I wasn’t sorry about having to talk to her because I’d already noticed her.
But then it all went south in a bad way and now we’re stuck with one another.
And that’s a problem.
Because everything this team is aiming for? Everything I’m aiming for?
It’s all riding on me.
I can’t let anything get in the way.
Especially her.
