Captured Heart by Haven Rose
Nobody likes the c-word. No, not that one. Cancer. Especially when you’re only twenty-three years old. Plans were made, medically and personally in regards to my future. One that, in my mind, always included children. Fearing the necessary treatment could render that difficult, if not impossible, I chose to make deposits with a local company. Never expecting any of it would be put in rotation. Until I get a phone call five years later informing me Zoe Kirkley is having my baby.
Since the family I was born into wanted nothing to do with me, I chose to create my own. Of course, that entailed seeking help. The company is reputable and I had no qualms about trusting them with my decision. And then I learned they gave me a sample of someone who’d stored theirs for personal use only.
Neither party expected such a mistake to be the best thing that ever happened to them.

Captured Heart, Book 8 of the Tendered Vows series, was about 28-year-old Walker Doyle and 25-year-old Zoe Kirkley. (No job descriptions were given for either character.)
The story began five years earlier when then-23-year-old Walker had been informed he had stage two Hodgkins Lymphoma. When the doctor laid out the plan to help him beat the disease, Walker was already planning on something else. Knowing that the chemo and radiation treatments he would have to endure might prevent him from becoming a father one day, Walker set out to find a sperm bank that would preserve his sperm so that he and his future wife might one day become parents. It was to be used only on the occasion of his eventual marriage, and not to be used with anyone else.
Flash forward five years. Zoe had a plan to start a family of her own. Since her birth family didn't seem to want her in their lives, she chose to go to a sperm bank and start the procedure to have her one child. So she spent most of the inheritance money she'd been left by her paternal grandfather and paid for the procedure, hoping it would take the first time around. Miracle of miracles, it did, and she found herself to be pregnant.
Four months later, Walker had been in remission from the cancer, endured a second bout of it, then went into remission again. As he was leaving his parent's home after dinner one night, he noticed a letter addressed to him from the sperm bank. In it he was informed that his sperm had been mistakenly used and had a successful result. He was going to be a father to a baby with an unknown woman.
Two days later, Zoe was informed of the error and that the donor wanted to meet her. The same day she received the news, Zoe was waiting at a cafe to meet the man who was the unwitting father of her baby. The moment Walker first saw her, he wanted her as well as the baby. He just had to convince her he was sincere.
This was, by far, the best story so far in the series (this was only Book 8 of an 11-book series. Now I just have to wait for the other three to be published). It had a decent amount of angst and drama, but the emotional rollercoaster had only a few twists and turns. While there wasn't any push/pull between the two main characters, there was some conflict with the other woman wannabe.
Both main characters were fully developed and mature, with plenty of room for growth. I gave this story a four-star rating because it earned it in spades.
Very short, cutesy fluff of a story
