FIVE FAT STARS....I love this book!!! First I love that the story was so original. I read only dark romance, anti-hero, alpha male bad boy books and sadly too many of them are swallowed up in the same formula. Book to book and author to author. This book is so much different.
Both Ella and Cage stole my heart. Especially Cage. Oh my oh my. I could not believe the life he'd been forced to live but then not to even understand that he had an orchestrated existence courtesy of his evil, demented, devil dad. "Dad", was the personification of a psychopath. Straight up, the devil's gatekeeper.
I enjoyed reading how Ella broke away from her isolation to reach out and learn about Cage's circumstances. She becomes resolute in finding a way out and then she wants more than anything to save Cage. With Ella's help, Cage is learning about a world he never knew existed and begins to see his father differently, and questions his intentions towards both him and Ella.
The story is a page-turner and at no point was there a moment of boredom. The story unfolded nicely and kept my attention to the very end. My only complaint was what happened to Cage's despicable father. I wanted him to suffer as Cage had. Yeah. Payback is a B*tch and I wanted revenge for both Cage and Ella.
I am anxious to read Locked, about Lock, Cage's brother. I hope it holds the same fire this one did.
Weirdly interesting. Wanted to know what happened to Lock and the blind girl.
