Be My Daddy, Book 2 of the Hired trilogy, was about Melody, an escort, and Jackson, the personal assistant to Tyler from Book 1. When Jackson returned from getting coffee for himself, Tyler, and Emery (it was good to see these two appear in this story and see how their HFN played out and if they got a HEA in its place), he found a baby in front of his door. Taking the carrier into his friends' place across the hall, he discovered a note attached to the wee one that reminded him of a certain interlude he had with a woman while they were both highly intoxicated. The letter also informed him the baby was his and that the mother could not take care of her. Along with the letter were court documents of the mother signing away her parental rights to Jackson. Emery (from Book 1) told him she had a new employee who used to be an au pair. She called the woman and set her up to work with Jackson and his baby girl. Melody had taken a job as an escort after her previous employers fired her (the wife accused her of sleeping with her husband), and did everything she could to make certain Melody never worked as an au pair again. When asked to help Jackson with his newly discovered baby, she responded without hesitation. This book was even better than Book 1. Jackson was an impressive character in that he neither hesitated to take responsibility for the baby nor did he deny the possibility he had fathered her. When he met Melody for the first time, he was enamored with her. The angst and drama were slightly higher in this story, but that was to be expected with an abandoned baby involved. But the MMC was once again a sweet, easy-going, lovable giant. The FMC was also not an innocent girl who did not know how intimacies worked. I loved how these two played off each other as well as the couple from Book 1. While they were both mature adults, there was still a bit of growth that they both needed and did. I gave this another four-star rating, only because it was too short. I would have loved to see more backstory and a bit more content, but it was still a really enjoyable book.
