I would say Dr. Cruz Costello is my archenemy.
But that would require acknowledging one another, which we haven’t done in over a decade.
He’s the town’s golden child. The beloved quarterback-turned-physician.
I’m the girl who got knocked up at sixteen and now works at a diner.
He is Fairhope royalty.
I get my monarch dose from tabloid gossip.
He’s well-off.
I’m…well, off.
When our siblings get engaged, Cruz’s parents invite both families to a pre-wedding cruise.
Except Cruz and I find ourselves stuck on a different ship from everyone else.
Cue ten horrible, insufferable days at sea with a man I cannot stand.
(My fault, of course.)
But when the alcohol pours in, the secrets spill out, and I’m left with one question:
Can I take another chance on love?

I loved the Book. Nessy was infuriating at times, a pushover more times than I liked. I almost wished this was real life and I could be her friend, I would slap some of these fools. They got off way to easy, would have loved to see them beg and grovel a little. Oh! well, this is all fantasy.

i LOVE THIS SM 😭 but i wish the apologies wasnt done until the very end (but i kinda get why the author did it) and that her family + other ppl had done more than just say sorry to her.

I'm just starting to read and I want to ask this... did God really asked Abraham to circumcise himself at the age of 99?... I think I like this new LJ, not the 'rich kid with issues' thingy on her previous books.

First of all, I can't believe L.J. Shen wrote this book but she maintained the theme of rich guy and poor girl, so there's that. Second of all, Nessy was giving lip to Cruz every time but when it comes to others nada. I still feel Trinity deserved a slap but she married Wyatt, so that's her penance I guess. Overall I liked Bear, the kid knew his priorities.

Ngl when I started reading the book I wanted to punch a lot of people for the way they treated Nessy including Cruz. The small town double standards between a man and woman was potrayed very accurately. Initially I was team Nessy cause it took me time to warm up to Cruz. In the first half he didnt seem to have much of a backbone. But in the second half I changed to team Cruz and wanted to shake her hard a few times to say stand up for yourself but her situation was understandable albeit frustrating. The book could have been a little shorter because I felt it was unnecessarily dragged out. But the story was adorable and book is well written so I am happy.
