Theodore Hawthorne cannot forget the woman who should have been his wife. Forced together at a country house Christmas party, the fire between them is clearly undiminished. Determined to win Lauren back, Theodore sets a course of tender seduction.

One thing is certain. By the stroke of midnight on Christmas Day, there will either be a scandal to resolve or a wedding to celebrate.

A Scandal Before Christmas was about Lady Lauren Kendall, daughter of the late Lord Kendall, and Lord Theodore Hawthorne, the Earl of Hawthorne. Lauren and Theo had been engaged just a short time when Theo's father died from a wasting disease. It was only 3 months later that Lauren's father also died unexpectedly. It was at that time that Lauren learned the truth about her betrothal to Theo. She felt the betrayal deeply and quickly ended the engagement. A little over a year after the passing of her father, Lauren's mother decided her daughter should begin socializing again and sent her to her cousin's home in the country to attend a house party. Unknown to her until she arrived, Theo was also in attendance, much to her dismay. Theo had never stopped loving Lauren and was determined to win her back...and he told her just how he was going to do that. Though the story was the typical regency romance novel, it still had its fair share of originality. It was full of angst, drama, humor, anger, betrayal, and reconciliation. The passion was volcanic and scorching. The characters had a bit of maturing to do, and not just the main two. While they seemed to be well-developed, they lacked the traits and personalities that would give them the fleshed-out look about them. They were too mechanical at points and unrealistic at others. While it wasn't five-star worthy, it was still a decent holiday love story.
