I better watch out. I better not cry. Spencer Owens is coming to town.

Let’s just say, finding myself in a jail cell on Christmas Eve with the man who abandoned me five years ago-not part of my life plan.

I used to think Spencer Owens and I would spend the rest of our lives together. Then he left town to pursue his dream of playing professional hockey, and I realized the only thing I’d be spending the rest of my life with was a broken heart.

Five years later he’s back in town, and using his celebrity status to help save the local Christmas tree farm. I want nothing to do with him. Probably. I mean, that’s what I told him, anyway. After all, I have too much else going on this holiday season to even think about romance. I mean, that’s what I’m telling myself, anyway. Like, repeatedly telling myself. Me, plus a romance with Spencer, equals a non-starter. The end. A closed door. No can do.

But when the two of us find ourselves stuck in jail after a Christmas mission gone wrong, all my feeble pep talks go up in flames. Because the more time we spend together, the more I’m starting to think that all I really want for Christmas… is him.
