The beginning…
The beginning is always the best place to start when reflecting on what has been.
Thinking back on it, my life had been perfect.
Middle class girl in high school with a happy home life.
My life had been full of nothing but promise.
Life was good.
Everything was great.
And then my whole world went to shit. In one day.
The disease came first.
Then the dead.
It was a fight for my life every single day from the start. But I was different from all the rest.
I had heard my mother’s screams while watching my sister become one with the undead. All the while feeling like there was absolutely nothing I could do to help them.
It killed me.
What’s more, it changed me.
I did everything I possibly could to survive on my own.
And then I learned how to survive with others.
By being their Queen.
Their Zombie Queen.
And by being the most feared woman they ever came in contact with.

This is a WhyChoose novel full of zombies, a sword wielding badass chick, and an army of dudes.

Very good, but comes across as more of the first book in a slow burn RH series than a standalone. Its a RH between initially 7 men, but at about 80% of the way through 2 more are implied to get added. Its very light on the romance/intimacy. We get very little points of views from the men and what you do get isnt really impactful to the story. Essentially you know the female MC (Emerald) builds a connection with these men (Gram, Russ, Joseph, Dex, Sam, Noble, Kemp) but as a reader the only connection you can get with these male MCs is through their affection for Emerald, you learn very little about them individually and get almost non existent physical intimacy (she is only tamely physically intimate with 2 men in the book) the men are almost 2 dimensional, but just have slightly more depth. I only listed 7 men because Colton and Gideon, the final men implied to get added into the harem, because Colton literally has one indirect interaction with the FMC when we get his view point about finding her attractive. Gideon doesn't get a perspective and just winks at her, showing interest. They are actually 2 dimensional. They are also not mention in the FMC perspective epilogue. If there was more to this, I would read it and I dont regret having read it despite it feeling incomplete.
