Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan
A girl who can speak to gods must save her people without destroying herself.
A prince in danger must decide who to trust.
A boy with a monstrous secret waits in the wings.
Together, they must assassinate the king and stop the war.
In a centuries-long war where beauty and brutality meet, their three paths entwine in a shadowy world of spilled blood and mysterious saints, where a forbidden romance threatens to tip the scales between dark and light. Wicked Saints is the thrilling start to Emily A. Duncan’s devastatingly Gothic Something Dark and Holy trilogy..

This is my new favorite book of all time.
All the three characters are formidable in their own sense. Only, I don't know if I should hate or admire Malachiasz though. That boy manages to invoke some serious contradicting feelings for me lol.
Also, it's written in a way where there is no tell, only show. There's no description of events unfolding; it's actually happening and not described which I think is admirable this novel author can do so effortlessly while much more experienced ones still struggle with this common writing trap.
This was amazing. I was not expecting this to turn out this good. Honestly, I decided to give it a chance despite the negative reviews I'd stumbled upon and let me tell you I'm glad I trusted my gut.
Note to self: do not let negative experiences of others deter you from trying it out for youself.
I really enjoyed this novel. I devoured it. Anyone who likes dark fantasy, will like this. Recommend!
