After a rebound one-night stand — okay, and maybe the hottest night of my entire life — I don’t expect to ever see him again.
Turns out he’s been lying to me since he first opened his mouth, which puts him squarely on my shit list. Maybe that’s thanks to my major trust issues, but after being betrayed by the people closest to me time and time again, it feels warranted.
My parents screwed me over, my boyfriend cheated on me, and oh yeah, my sorority kicked me out because I wouldn’t fall in line.
Just when I think things can’t get worse, he’s here — constantly, popping up, no matter where I go, and chasing me with a ferocity and impertinence that outright enrages me. It definitely does not make my chest flutter like a whole ass swarm of butterflies has taken up residence in there. Nope, not happening.
But he keeps showing up for me. No terms, no conditions — just pure devotion and support. My focus should be on making those who wronged me pay for their sins, but he refuses to give up.

The thought of trusting someone again scares the shit out of me… but maybe some people are worth it.
