Losing Tino was the worst thing I’d ever gone through, and not even being shunned to Sutiner could compare to the heartache of losing my best friend. Even with over one hundred unanswered letters, I still held out hope. Hope that he hadn’t gotten them, that he still loved me. Like I loved him. Still. Even after all these years, I loved Tino.

Being shunned to a different world than the other shunned mages didn’t sit well with me. But nothing rarely did anymore. After Dad had gotten a new job when I was thirteen, he’d moved us to the other end of our world, away from him. Away from my Altair. My best friend. My everything. Ever since that day, I hadn’t been the same. The light in my life was gone and so, I became a shell of myself. Maybe this new world could change me for the better. Or maybe all I needed was Altair to storm back into my life, demanding to know why I hadn’t answered his letters.
