There was only one woman who could set me free. But I would rather set myself on fire than ask Sloane Walton for anything.

Lucian Rollins is a lean, mean vengeance-seeking mogul. On a quest to erase his father’s mark on the family name, he spends every waking minute pulling strings and building an indestructible empire. The more money and power he amasses, the safer he is from threats.
Except when it comes to the feisty small-town librarian that keeps him up at night…
Sloane Walton is a spitfire determined to carry on her father’s quest for justice. She’ll do that just as soon as she figures out exactly what the man she hates did to—or for—her family. Bonded by an old, dark secret from the past and the dislike they now share for each other, Sloane trusts Lucian about as far as she can throw his designer-suited body.

When bickering accidentally turns to foreplay, these two find themselves not quite regretting their steamy one-night stand. Once those flames are fanned, it seems impossible to put them out again. But with Sloane ready to start a family and Lucian refusing to even consider the idea of marriage and kids, these enemies-to-lovers are stuck at an impasse.
Broken men break women. It’s what Lucian believes, what he’s witnessed, and he’s not going to take that chance with Sloane. He’d rather live a life of solitude than put her in danger. But he learns the hard way that leaving her means leaving her unprotected from other threats.

It’s the second time he’s ruthlessly cut her out of his life. There’s no way she’s going to give him a third chance. He’s just going to have to make one for himself.

WOW such a great book! Loved it couldn’t put it down. Well developed beautifully told and all the characters played a pivotal role in the story telling and not just backdrops. The deep emotional tie between Lucian and Sloane was deep and the heartache they shared from their teens to adulthood drew you in. Lucian fighting his abused past not feeling worthy and Sloane trying to save him put a strain on their relationship. The 20years they took to get together was a little too much and would have been better if the story was not so far apart. The humour and the flirty fighting was brilliant the banter between the two MCs was funny and enjoyable to read and the friendship between Knox, Naomi, Nash, and Lina was amazing and loved their inclusion and also Stef and Jeremiah. All the characters were a plus and enriched the story. The back story of the Mafia boss and saving the wrongly convicted Mary Louise just added more depth to the story. The book moved from past to the present smoothly developing the history of their lives to the present building on Lucian’s and Sloane’s lives. The sexual tension and chemistry was hot and had you on edge till the middle of the book and once the MCs finally hooked up their chemistry was off the charts. Loved the strong silent grumpy Lucian AKA Lucifer and the feisty Sloane AKA Pixie “I’m a librarian dumb ass” ready to kick some ass. The HEA was super sweet and double epilogue gave you the Aah! moment and get the tissues out. I laughed I cried and absolutely loved this book. Please note this was the 3rd of the series need to read book 1 and 2 to get the full picture but could be read on its own.

My favourite will always be the first one. Kinda like every other enemies to lovers trope. Sloane was correct in pointing out how can she trust Lucian and she was taking things way too lightly until..... My favourite character was Simon.

What is up with the ads here?? I am losing interest in reading. I understand this is a free site but it’s almost unbearable now. Any ideas? Suggestions?

Wow! a great jump from the second book. It was slowww burn where you could feel the tension between the two with all their banter. I loved the characters of both Sloane and Lucien and didnt lose interest despite it being a relatively long read. The bonus epilogue was a little sappy for my taste but a great conclusion to the series.
