A wedding. A trip to Spain. The most infuriating man. And three days of pretending. Or in other words, a plan that will never work.

Catalina Martín, finally, not single. Her family is happy to announce that she will bring her American boyfriend to her sister’s wedding. Everyone is invited to come and witness the most magical event of the year.
That would certainly be tomorrow’s headline in the local newspaper of the small Spanish town I came from. Or the epitaph on my tombstone, seeing the turn my life had taken in the span of a phone call.

Four weeks wasn’t a lot of time to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic–from NYC and all the way to Spain–for a wedding. Let alone, someone eager to play along my charade. But that didn’t mean I was desperate enough to bring the 6’4 blue eyed pain in my ass standing before me.

Aaron Blackford. The man whose main occupation was making my blood boil had just offered himself to be my date. Right after inserting his nose in my business, calling me delusional, and calling himself my best option. See? Outrageous. Aggravating. Blood boiling. And much to my total despair, also right. Which left me with a surly and extra large dilemma in my hands. Was it worth the suffering to bring my colleague and bane of my existence as my fake boyfriend to my sister’s wedding? Or was I better off coming clean and facing the consequences of my panic induced lie?

Like my abuela would say, que dios nos pille confesados.

I read this book about two years ago, and I have just finished rereading it to check if I still feel the same way about it. And the answer is a big YES. I loved it even more than before. I see that it is being compared to The Hating Game, which I also had to read to be able to compare them since the plot is similar, however for me, The Spanish Love Deception is waaaay better. ❤

O M G. This book was so good!!! But bad idea to read it in class because of ✨spice✨ senes (that was interesting, I was blushing the whole time). I have always loved the enemies to lovers trope except one was always in love. SO if you want another enemies to lovers trope thats a little more YA and set in senior year high school I HIGHLY recommend "Better Than the Movies" By Lynn Painter.

Hey i know it's late to reply just saw ur msg but the books that matches ur description are probs one of the following three: 1. "The Cruel Prince" by Holly Black. It follows the story of a young woman who is mistreated by a man from her past, leading to a dangerous and twisted game of manipulation and survival. 2."The Girl in the Basement" by L. I. Author. It tells the story of a woman who is trapped and abused by someone she once knew, struggling to find a way to escape her captivity and seek justice. 3. "Captive in the Basement" by J.K. Rowling. It tells the story of a young woman who is held captive by a former classmate and his twisted family, as she struggles to survive and escape their cruel clutches.

The Hating Game set a really high bar for enemies to lovers rivalry romance. This is a good read, not great, but a solid book on its own. The difference, for me, THG leads felt like people; in this book, they're just characters. They don't have the same depth as THG.

This book might be good but I couldn't read past first chapter. Maybe because I have read the same plots again n again. My personal favourite enemies to lovers will be the Hating Game by Sally Thorne and Practice makes Perfect by Julie James.

Not as good as The Hating Game, but in that vein. Characters didn't have the same charm as Lucy and Josh's book and Lina's humor felt forced. Ok, we get it, she's a ditz. You can demonstrate that part of her character without making her look so incompetent all the time

Ok...it's kind of similar to the hating game but it has its own charm

The hating game was gold. The emotional connection between them and even the rivalry felt real. Lina's character is too dramatic. Aaron is too slow I just kept thinking "Do something!!"I don't really feel the emotional connection. It's just Lina lusting over Aaron since the book is in first person. All in all it's a great read. Well done
