Waffled back and forth from present to past tense (sorry for the question mark).

So out of all the books, 4 of the 7 waffled back and forth from ?to past tense in wording, changing in almost every other sentence. Rounding off the series, book 7 continued the "tradition". While it was a great series, the habit of switching tenses made for some awkward reading. Choose one or the other, but please don't do them interchanging. Think of your readers! Worse than that? The author changed Malik's name to Maarku...repeatedly! Ugghh While the endings of this last book were pretty cool, it was awkward in that they were all in one book rather than at the end of their own story.
