The Greek’s Unknown Bride was about Apollo Vasilis, a Greek construction tycoon, and Sasha Miller, who had been his English girlfriend. After waking up in a hospital, Sasha had no memory of who she was or anything about her marriage to Apollo. While she did remember meeting him, nothing else registered...except perhaps that they had, at some point, quite possibly been intimate. Informed by the doctor she had survived an accident, that her name was Sasha, and that she was married to Apollo, none of it felt familiar...or right. However, the doctor discharged her to Apollo's care, even though he did not look happy about it. After arriving at his home, Apollo had had enough and demanded she quit pretending she did not remember anything. That, and the reaction from the household staff made her realize things weren't what they should have been. Apollo didn't by her amnesia, believing her to be pretending, which the idea infuriated him. Though he was drawn to her sexually, he couldn't quite forgive her for the past and he kept waiting for her to drop the pretense and return to the witch he had first married. Sasha could not come to terms with who she was before the accident and who she was afterward, not being able to reconcile the two identities. Every little bit of information she learned about the past just didn't seem to fit and kept her unsettled. And then, suddenly, her memory returned and everything changed yet again. This book was so full of angst, drama, betrayal, anger, heartache, deception, and all the negative emotions you could come up with. This scenario was a familiar one as it had been over-done and over-written far too frequently. The woman gets in an accident, wakes up to find she has no memory of who she was or the fact she was supposed to be married to a man who apparently detested her. Went home with him from the hospital only to find no one liked her. Everyone who knew her before the accident did not trust her, all involved believed her to be lying and playing a game. Old, worn-out, much-abused storyline. The all-too-familiar dominant, overbearing, Greek tycoon who refused to get involved in a deep relationship let alone a marriage, refused to get emotional to the point he was harsh with the Heroine who fell in love with him was just too much to enjoy. The hateful way he treated her then used her to appease his sexual urges, all the while knowing how he was going to treat her in the end was never that much of an appealing love story, even when I was a teenager, and much less so now as an adult. The Sasha who woke up after the accident was a warm, loving, gentle soul who got along well with everyone...except for Apollo, who made it difficult for her at every step. She was open, honest, and willing to do whatever it took to get her memory back and to try to make the marriage work. She did have the backbone and integrity that many such characters lacked in these books. While it was a decent enough book, there was still too much wrong with it to give it a five-star rating. It was too close to other books with similar plot lines to be considered one-of-a-kind...because it really wasn't, which was a pity. It also left too many unanswered questions...and the Hero just wasn't remorseful enough at the end for all he had put the Heroine through. He was forgiven much too quickly because such a change does not take place in a matter of minutes.
