Before I give my review, I wanted to point out that the above blurb doesn't completely match other blurbs (especially the one in the book itself). So I'm going to add that here for other readers to peruse:

"He’s inherited the title of rake. She hides behind her independence...Fate accepts the challenge. Grace Beaumont has seen what love can do to a woman. Her mother sacrificed her life to produce the coveted son and heir. A devastated father and newborn brother force her to take on the role of Lady Boldon at the age of fifteen. But Grace finds solace in the freedom and power of her new status. Christopher Roker made a name for himself in the military. The rigor and pragmatism of the army suit him. When a tragic accident heaves Kit into a role he never wanted or expected, his world collides with another type of duty. Returning to England and his newfound responsibilities, the Wicked Earls’ Club becomes a refuge from the glitter and malice of London society but cannot ease his emptiness. Needing an escape from his late brother’s memory and reputation, Kit visits the family estate for the summer. Lady Grace, a beauty visiting from a neighboring estate, becomes a welcome distraction. When the chance to return to the military becomes a valid possibility, the earl finds himself wavering between his old life and the lure of an exceptional—and unwilling—woman." Now for my review: Earl of Sunderland, 5th book in the Wicked Earls' Club series, was about Christopher "Kit" Roker, Earl of Sunderland, twin brother to Carson, the late Earl of Sunderland, and Grace Beaumont, daughter of Charles Beaumont, the Earl of Boldon, and cousin to the widow of Carson Roker. Kit, a former Lieutenant Colonel, returned home from war, only to receive word from his father, the Marquess of Falsbury, that his twin brother, Carson, had died in a riding accident. (There was a bit of discrepancy in the timeline. From the beginning, the author had the year starting in 1810. But in the letter Kit received from his father, the year was 1805. I'm guessing it was a typo because everything else was marked as 1815.) Throughout the beginning of the story, the year He inherited the title of Earl at his brother's passing but hears there might be a reprieve, one that could allow him to return to the war. When she was 15, Grace watched helplessly as her mother died after giving birth to her baby brother, a late-in-life child. Because she believed her mother had sacrificed her life to produce a son and heir, Grace was determined to never marry. She didn't want that to happen to her as well. Being the only female in the family, the role of lady of the house fell to her. The chemistry between the two main characters had always been present, even from their very first meeting at the wedding of her cousin to his brother. As they got to know each other better, that chemistry grew. The emotions in this story ran the gamut from grief to joy, from sadness to outright joy. There was drama, angst, humor, fear, love, joy...this book had it all, in spades. Another great book to join the Keeper for the Shelves collection.
