Marta Kowalczyk should be on the Olympia with her friends. Instead, she’s babysitting her father, who’s fresh out of prison and resisting Marta’s attempts to keep him on the straight and narrow. She could do without any other frustrations in her life, including helping the grumpy head of Station security, Tarkken, who, for some reason, can’t stand the sight of her.
Tarkken H’Arran would love to put violent anti-Intergalactic Community extremist, Nick Gillespie, behind bars before everyone returns from the Olympia. But to do it, he’s going to need Marta’s help. The only problem? Marta’s emotions project far louder than everyone else’s and play havoc with Tarkken’s Empathy. Being around her is almost intolerable. So why can’t he get her off his mind?
