Dear Step-Santa,
The last thing I wanted for Christmas was a shockingly gorgeous new stepbrother. And I certainly didn’t want to play elf to your Santa at my mother’s charity event or sneak off to kiss you under the mistletoe. Ok, maybe I wanted that at the time, but it can’t happen again. It’s too naughty.
Is it bad I can’t stop fantasizing about all the ways you can deck my halls so I can fa la la la la all night long?
It is, I know.
I can’t control myself.
What I really want for Christmas is to stop craving you all the time.
I’ll need a Christmas miracle.
Signed,
Winter

Step-Santa was about 26-year-old Winter Joseph, an out-of-work store manager, and 30-year-old Kane Snow, her new stepbrother. Shortly before Christmas, Winter was informed that her mother had eloped to the south of France to marry the boyfriend she had only been seeing for two weeks. She traveled from her home to her mother's place to meet her newest stepfather. Along the way, she swerved to miss a deer in the road and almost ended up in a ravine. However, she stopped just shy of it. But then her car wouldn't start and she melodramatically thought of how she would die in her car and never be found until the snow melted. However, fate stepped in and her "hunky savior" drove up and rescued her...only for her to find out a little later he was her new stepbrother. But they eventually caved to their desires and one spicy scene happened. The book went from the four of them gathering at a restaurant to meet for the first time then skipped to three weeks later without any filler information. In fact, 90% of this story happened off-page. There was so much lacking in this book that it would have gotten a higher rating if I hadn't read it at all. While both the main characters fought their mutual attraction, that lasted a mere 2-3 weeks (nothing was specifically stated here). This micro-short story was over almost before it began. There wasn't any real angst, and only a touch of drama (mainly caused by the parents of the main characters). The emotional rollercoaster ride didn't happen either. It was more of a "wham, bam, thank you, Ma'am" story than a romance novella. The story was just okay. It needed more backstory, more content, and more grit than the author offered to the reader. It was, IMHO, quite the disappointment. I only gave it a one-star rating. I just didn't think it rated higher than that.
