Cause and consequence:
Two words that haunt me:
When I was stolen, I learned to hate.
When he saved me, I learned to fear.
I ran from him, following a trail of the dead, from Miami all the way to Colombia.
Now I’ve fallen into darkness again, and he’s the only one I see.
But he’s a shadow man.
A bad man.
A soldier.
A killer.
The red right hand to the devil himself.
We’re a dirty contradiction: I’m the girl who can’t be touched, whom he refuses to set free.
We’re a dangerous obsession: There’s damage running deep in both of our souls.
Caught up in a cartel war I want no part of.
Trapped between love and hate.
One night will change everything…
For years, Joseph Grayson killed in the name of Dante Santiago.
Now, he kills for me.

Catherine Wiltcher never disappoints. WHAT. A. RUSH. 10 stars!!

Catherine Wiltcher is positively an author who should be on your most loved lists. Her books consistently bring to life characters you love and those you love to hate. They are fully humanized with three-dimensional characteristics designed to grab your attention and sweep you into their world. I get lost in her books and truly find myself emotionally immersed in the environment she creates for her readers. If this is the first book you’ve read of hers, I strongly encourage you to check out her library. You will not be disappointed.

I became addicted to the characters and storyline in The Santiago Trilogy so I couldn’t wait to dive into Grayson’s duet. OH. MY. What a great extension to the series. Grayson, like Dante, is the quintessential HOT SE*Y alpha male. Honestly, I didn’t think the author could match the heat rising from the pages of Dante’s books but dang….the girl lit up the pages all over again with the brooding Shadow Man, Grayson.

There are many fabulous writers on Amazon. I’ve read so many standalone I’ve love and a few duets. I do find it more challenging to find books that can continue a good story after two books, however. By the third one, too much of the story become repetitious and uninteresting. The Santiago series is certainly an exception. Characters from the beginning reemerge with their back story yet continue to evolve in a new yet familiar story. I thought I knew all of Joseph’s story but……Catherine brought much more forward that was never a regurgitation of what we already knew.

I love the dynamics between Joseph and Anna. They are a unique and volatile couple, both layered with scars and mistrust. Somehow their broken hearts come together and ignite a passion so intense, so scorching, so everything you’d hope for between two misfits, you’ll need to pace yourself at times while the words swallow you whole and leave you panting.

Viviana is a great addition to the continuation of Dante’s and Joseph’s world. You will be very surprised with her character and the imprint she leaves in this story.

I just can’t adequately express how much I loved this duet. Best of all, there is one sentence at the ending that suggests there is more to come. Yes please, Catherine. Don’t let this be the end of my extended fantasy family…
