Duncan Oliphant’s father, the laird, has insisted he—and all of his brothers—marry and start producing grandsons…like, yesterday. And Dunc is having none of it. All he wants in life is a small cottage behind his forge, and enough gold and silver to craft delicate, valuable jewelry.
But he is his father’s son, albeit illegitimate, and has a duty to do. One he’s happy to postpone as he takes one more commission which has him traveling across the Highlands, gold in hand.
Which is, of course, the worst time to be attacked by Highwayman.
Even worse if it’s not a man at all, but a Highwaywoman…a gorgeous, feisty one he accidentally kissed a fortnight ago at his brother’s wedding.
What is Skye Duncan doing robbing unsuspecting travelers? The only way to discover the truth—and get back his gold—is to kidnap the highwaywoman and offer a trade. Aye, this will go swimmingly.
…until it doesn’t.
Because Skye clearly isn’t some meek, delicate lady. And despite their rocky beginning, she can’t ignore the way Duncan’s kisses made her feel, or how his offered solution might just be what she needs to hang up her sword for good.
Can a goldsmith with simple wants make peace with a determined Highwaywoman, for the sake of their clans’ futures? Or is the gulf between them—and their history—too much?
And whatever did happen to all that gold?

Scot on Her Trail, Book 2 of The Hots for Scots series, was about Duncan "Dunc" Oliphant, one of the six illegitimate sons of Laird William Oliphant, and Skye MacIan (NOT Skye Duncan as the above blurb states), sister of Laird Steward MacIan. After Duncan's father, the Laird Oliphant, sat him and his five brothers down for a talk, none of them were prepared for his edict...whichever of his six sons married first and produced him with an heir would become the next Laird in his stead...and their father was determined for each of them to marry within the year. Duncan's twin brother, Finn, had already found and married his true love, Fiona MacIan, the identical twin sister to Skye MacIan. However, Duncan did not want to marry, nor did he want to be Laird. He just wanted "a small cottage behind his forge and enough gold and silver to craft valuable delicate jewelry". Even though he knew he had to follow his father's edict, he did everything he could to put the demands on hold for as long as he could, even to the point of taking another trip to fulfill a commission for his business. However, along the way, he encountered a highwayman whose intention it was to steal his gold...except...it wasn't a highwayman, but rather a highwayWOMAN, who was none other than his brother's new sister-in-law, Skye...a woman he had kissed without her express permission. When Duncan could not get the band of highwaymen, who were apparently following their leader, Skye, to give back his gold, his only recourse was to make off with her and tell the men if they wanted her back, they'd have to surrender his gold. He then took off with her on his horse. From that point on, things got very interesting, and the story became one adventure after another. The humor was, once again, a bit on the dry/sarcastic side, and the sexual innuendoes were plentiful. This story, though, held more intrigue and mystery than the first as the plot had included some interesting twists. The passion and chemistry were again as hot as a volcano about to erupt. There were other emotions woven into the fabric of the story that gave it an interesting kick. The characters were well-developed and fleshed out and there were plenty of shady ones included this time around. A five-star rating was definitely earned by this book and it will also join its predecessor with the other Keeper for the Shelves stories.
