HAZEL:

After a fire at the home of one of my students, I ask for one of volunteer firefighters in town to come speak with my class. I didn’t expect them to send him. We were best friends growing up, but on the first day of high school he told me we couldn’t be friends anymore and we haven’t spoken since. But now he wants to try and be friends again. Should I take the risk and let him back in my life and heart again?

I see it in her eyes the moment I walk in her classroom. She doesn’t know the truth about why our friendship ended so many years ago. I’ve carried this truth long enough and I want to tell her everything. But I’m not sure she’s ready to hear it. Has enough time passed between us that we can rekindle our friendship…maybe more?
