Replacing My Ex, Book 2 of The Ex series, was about late-to mid-20s-early 30s Amanda Stewart and 39-year-old Thunder McCall.

Side Note: This book was written in multiple POVs: The FMC, MMC, the FMC's ex-husband Dan Tierney, Deidre, the mistress of the ex-husband, and Cecile, the ex-husband's mother.

Amanda married Dan at 24, although they had known each other since middle school. They had followed a plan and, so far everything they wanted, they had. The only thing missing was a child. They were both in their late 20s-early 30s, so she thought they had plenty of time. Until Dan, a college professor, came home one day with his mother, who told her that Dan had gotten his teacher's assistant pregnant and that she would have to accept the mistress and her child into their lives. Dan told her that, since it seemed she couldn't have children, it was his only option to become a father, agreeing with his mother that Amanda had no option but to fall in line with his wants/needs for the other woman and child. So she endured a lot of crap from the three of them for a year before she filed for a divorce, moved out, and then moved away once the divorce was finalized.

Two years after the divorce, Amanda met and fell in love with Thunder (who had seen her at her former place of employment two years earlier and fallen in love with her. However, since she had been married at the time, he walked away without ever introducing himself to her.). Almost from the moment they met, things started in the right direction for the two of them. However, things for her ex-husband had not gone as he had expected. He thought Amanda would "put up and shut up" and just accept his affair and stay married to him. Once she moved out and divorced him, his life took a steady downward fall. Everything he'd had right in his life with Amanda was no more, and his life with Deidra was the worst he could imagine.

This book was full of angst, drama, secrets, a touch of the forbidden, as well as some darker tones. The emotional rollercoaster was in full swing with all of its usual twists and turns, but it had a few surprises along the way. There were some icky parts, like when the FMC had spicy scenes with her (ex) husband immediately after learning about his infidelity. That was just a bit too much, IMHO.

The two main characters were both mature and well-developed, with lots of room for growth. Some of the secondary characters were less developed and definitely immature, but the immaturity fit with their attitudes. The comeuppance for those who needed it was epic and well-played. I loved how everyone got the karma they deserved and with ample portions!

Since I only gave this a three-star rating, I'll explain it. There were so many tropes used to create this story that it was bogged down quite heavily and took away some of the enjoyment of the book. It would have faired better if the author had scaled back on the amount of tropes she used, but that's just my opinion.

I loved this book so much BUT I did have a problem with the FMC having sx and GIVING a BJ to her cheating husband especially after knowing he had sx with the OW enough to think he got her pregnant. Yet I do think that the FMC was in a bad place, shocked and confused that her childhood-best-friend-turned-husband was a cheater and she kind of didn't know how to separate the best friend whom she loved from the husband who cheated, so she was trying her best to make things work. What I really, like REALLY loved about this book is our MMC who was a loving and a faithful husband, OTT possessive and obsessed with the FMC, I enjoyed reading how he took good care of her. Don't get me started with the morning sickness and all the other pregnancy symptoms, the couvade syndrome was a great touch. AND THE F*CKING KARMA! The beautiful karma dear, that happened to the ex his mistress and his mom.
