When Riona Farrell stepped out from behind the bar with hair the color of fire and a song on her lips she shot an arrow straight through my heart. In that second, the truth of our family legend hit me like a brick to the forehead.
Since I was a little boy my father and grandfather told me in this world there is one woman for me. Seems my lack of interest in any other females before today was more than my ridiculously high standards.
Our first time will be together, but I won’t take her until she’s completely mine. Even if I have to drag her kicking and screaming down the aisle. Only, I fucked up. I didn’t tell her the truth and I may have just lost the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Parting Glass was about 39-year-old (?) Brann Maguire and 19-year-old (?) Riona Farrell. (The author was never specific about their exact ages, so I just took a wild guess.) What can I say about this story that will make a person want to read it? Well, I don't know that I can, to be honest. I struggled with it from beginning to end. Brann was in the States because his business partner told him he needed to see him. The man had been his friend since college days, and when Henry wanted to open an authentic Irish pub, Brann offered to back him and be a silent partner. When he arrived, he learned that Henry no longer wanted to own a bar and had chosen to sell it. However, in the process, Brann learned that Henry's business was causing the competition to go under. What he hadn't expected was to find the love of his life working in the other bar, which was owned by her family. Brann tried to set things right, but he made the mistake of not being upfront and honest with Riona and her family from the beginning. This book was so introspective it was on the verge of being boring. Too much inner conversation and recalling history and too little time getting to know about the current situation. I was bored before I got to chapter 6...and I don't get bored easily when reading. This was nearly a DNF for me. This whole story was one huge mess. It got so bad that I skimmed several chapters. The wording of the book was unusually difficult in some places. There were words missing, while in other places the wrong words were used. Still, in other areas, the punctuation was wrong, and all of the errors weren't only obvious, they were irritating. I was so disappointed with this story, and that made me sad. I was really looking forward to reading about a good Irish romance surrounding Irish lore about two people finding their soulmates. Well, they did, but it wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be. Oh, sure, there was a ton of angst, OTT drama, a touch of humor, and as always, love, spice, and heartache. But the fluff that filled the pages, and the writing style as well, pretty much took away all of the hope that it would be worth the time spent reading it. I could only give it a one-star rating.
