My Grumpy Billionaire by Nadia Lee
Griffin Lasker. Grumpy professor. Fake boyfriend. Father of my triplets.
My ex won’t accept that it’s over. He showed up at my divorce-cation in New Orleans at a masquerade ball. Lucky for me, a tall, debonair man in a mask rescued me and swept me away. It. Was. Phenomenal. And yeah, I had a one-night stand. And I’d do it again.
Back in the real world, the ex persists. And while I’m a woman who believes in saving herself, I was relieved when his sexy colleague Griffin jumped in and implied that we were dating to get the jerk to bug off. Of course, now we have to pretend to be dating.
Griffin is the least likely match for me. He’s grumpy and serious. But very. VERY. Hot. And he reminds me of a certain man I met in New Orleans…
Now I’m not sure if we’re faking it, or if the feelings are real, but I see that Griffin is nothing like I thought. And even though he doesn’t want to chat about pleasure augmentation devices with me, he knows how to use them.
But where there’s silicone, there’s scandal. What I didn’t anticipate was that Griffin’s got some scandals of his own.
*My Grumpy Billionaire is a laugh-out-loud swoonfest including a smoking hot masked hookup, a few silicone toys, and a peopling-averse hero you can’t help but love. It’s a stand-alone romance guaranteed to give you all the feels, along with the grand gestures and happy ending you crave.

My Grumpy Billionaire, Book 2 of The Lasker Brothers series, was about 34-year-old Griffin Lasker, a tenured econometrics specialist professor at Wollstonecraft College, and (late 20s) Sierra Fullilove (the author finally revealed her last name in Chapter 12), the CEO of Silicone Dream, a sex toy company.
Side Note: This will be repeated in all seven reviews. Emmett was the oldest of seven siblings. They all shared the same father, a Hollywood producer, but each brother had a different mother, and they were all born within four months of each other. So with that being said, the seen brothers were: Emmett, Huxley, Sebastian, Griffin, Grant, Noah, and Nicholas. (Each of the brothers' first names somehow coincided with their respective mothers. Emmett was a play on Emma, Huxley, Griffin, and Grant were each given their respective mothers' maiden names, Noah was a derivative of his mother's name Nora, and Nicholas was a play on his mother's name Nicole. Sebastian received his mother's maiden name too, even though his mother had been disowned by her family.)
While Chapter 1 began 3 months after she divorced her (now ex) husband Todd Beaker (a professor at the same college as Griffin), Chapter 2 did a flashback to "ten weeks and three days" before that, to when Sierra had gone on a "divorce cation" to celebrate her return to "singlehood". (This also happened around the same time as Book 1 in the series, since it was five weeks before the birthday party being held for the father of the seven brothers.) Unfortunately, Sierra's ex-husband followed her from California to New Orleans and put in an appearance at the same masquerade party she had been attending. When he accosted her, she was rescued by another masked man who knocked her e out, carried her to her hotel, and they spent the night together, all without ever removing their masks. (Just a note in passing, because this was important to the story. Part of the reason Sierra's marriage didn't last was that she had been told it would be challenging for her to get pregnant due to "partially blocked fallopian tubes". Her ex wasn't pleased with that, going so far as to call her frigid, and letting everyone know she was supposedly infertile.)
Two weeks after his hookup with Sierra, Griffin had a nightmare of an experience when he was in his college office, talking with students about their grades. His father, who had informed all of his sons that he wanted a grandchild for his birthday, had sent a nude, high-priced escort to his office, and the head of his department walked in on it when he was trying to get someone to call the cops.
Both Griffin and Sierra attended his father's birthday bash, albeit separately with Sierra having arrived first. (To explain Sierra's presence at this party, Griffin's father had apparently been friends with her late grandmother. Because of this, Sierra had grown up knowing Ted Lasker but somehow had never met his seven sons. The author never explained this little twist.) Since they had not exchanged names, phone numbers, or even their unmasked faces when they first met, neither of them recognized the other when they ran into each other. Sierra had been comforting his mother (although she didn't know who the woman was at the time), and he mistook her for a wannabe actress.
To appease the head of his department for the major faux pas with the hooker, Griffin was finagled into overseeing a "case study" at Sierra's company. What he (nor Sierra) knew was that they were about to run into each other again. She didn't learn about the college "field trip" until just moments before they arrived. When her ex also appeared, things got a bit dicey until Griffin stepped up and all but declared that he and Sierra were an item. That led to them pretending to be in a relationship that eventually turned into something more.
Long before I reached Chapter 12 (of 73 chapters!), I was bored and ready to forget I ever opened this book. It was a horrible information dump, with a lot of what was written in Book 1 repeated in this story as well. I'm guessing the remaining five books will be identical dumps of unnecessary information that are used as fillers to make it seem like a well-written novel. By Chapter 20, I was ready to call it a night since it was already a snooze-fest with 53 more chapters remaining.
Sierra was a very arrogant, self-centered, and judgmental person who body-shamed her ex at the opening of this story, even if it was only in her thoughts. I don't care WHO you are or what happened in your marriage, body-shaming a person is wrong. Griffin was also a bit of a stick in the mud who was always embarrassed by his mother and father. He went so far to avoid them that he even made certain she never linked her name with his in all his life. He was too concerned about his reputation and how he looked in the eyes of his coworkers and the faculty of the college where he was employed.
This book had too much angst and melodrama to be enjoyable, and it lacked cohesion to the point that it was all over the place. The conflict in the story was over the top and unnecessary, and the emotional rollercoaster had too many twists and turns to the point that it became very annoying.
Both main characters, while being mature, weren't very well-developed. They both had an unlikable personality and neither of them made a good hero/heroine for this story.
As long as this book was, I think the author was in too big of a hurry to wrap things up because the ending was too abrupt. With how long the breakup had lasted between these two, for it to have been solved in a matter of moments was too convenient with not nearly enough of a grovel from the MMC.
I could only give this a two-star rating because it was such a disappointment all around. Hopefully, the remaining stories prove to be better, but I'm not holding onto any hope of that being the case, since both the first two stories were lacking so badly.

Anothed tiktok fail. There's no way this book justifies having 73 chapters. Dragging the story on and on just to abruptly make everything okay in the last chapter. Also the way this book was phrased, i thought it would revolve around the pregnancy. But the pregnancy is mentioned after around 80% of the book is over. What pissed me off the most was how 2 successful and rich MCs became spineless infront of their manipulative families for the entire book only to grow a spine in the last. Why did Sierra let her ex treat her like dirt and abuse her when she could have taken so many legal steps against him. Makes no sense. But the biggest ick of all was how they brushed off Griffin's concerns about using his dick as an inspiration for a sex toy so publicly. Imagine him using her vagina as an inspiration to create a sex toy and everybody around them knowing and using it. So icky.
Good
VERY LONG I felt like it was all over the place but it kinda wasn’t but it wasn’t bad
