As the sheriff of Forest Grove, I vow to serve and protect.
I take my duties seriously and don’t take time for fun, dancing or dating.
That is until Carrie moves back to Forest Grove.
Now I’m eating her special recipes, dancing at the local bar, and thinking about my future… with her.
She thinks we’re fake dating… I think we’re falling in love.
But when a cop tries to interfere and ruin my one chance for happiness, I decide to take matters into my own hands.
Because I know that no matter what, I can’t lose her… We were meant to be.

Meant to Be, Book 2 of the Coming Home to the Grove series, was about, 29-year-old Scott Jordan, the sheriff, and 23-year-old Carry Baker, the niece of the owner of Patty Cakes Bakery. Scott, used to being teased about the "cops and donuts" scenario, wasn't too pleased to find a new face at the local bakery. Expecting her to pick up on the joke, he was pleasantly surprised when all she did was offer him a coffee and a sweet. After telling her he wasn't into sugary confections, she said she'd have to think about what to make for him. When Carry decided that college wasn't for her, she dropped out and returned home to work at her aunt's bakery, much to her mother's disapproval. On her first day there, she met Scott and things started to build between them. However, her mother's nasty comments about her weight gave Carry such low self-esteem to the point that she didn't believe the sheriff would be interested in her. As their relationship started to develop, Scott had issues with a rookie cop in his department. The kid was creating all manner of havoc for him, and he was having to issue one disciplinary report after another. But that only put Carry in the rookie's crosshairs. This story was much better than Book 1, but it still had quite a few issues with it. Once again I found an author who doesn't remember the characters she created. When Carry told Scott she found him a woman, first that woman's name was Elaine. But just a few moments later, that name changed to Beverly. Why can't authors pay closer attention to what they are creating? The two main characters were fully developed and mature, with a touch of sass in the FMC, and the MMC was a little on the gentle side, which was a nice change of pace. the spice level was low, but the interactions between them were fun to read about. Once again, the epilogue was not about the main characters of this story, but it was told from the POV of the heroine from the next book in the series. That's an interesting twist that this author uses in her books. However, it didn't affect my rating, which was three stars. I would have given it more, but the errors were too many to overlook.
