This fairy tale has been told time and again but never the whole truth of it.
Rampant wolves and red capes and hapless nymphs in the woods, for sure. But never the true story. I’m telling the true story now, for my granddaughter and for her granddaughter thereafter.
And believe me, there is no need for embellishments, because the truth is daring enough.
Li’l Red might have been a hapless nymph and like most hapless nymphs all she really wanted was to get laid by a charming prince – or maybe a rugged woodsman – and live happily ever after.
Maybe that’s the truth of it – or the root of it. One thing I can tell you is, no matter how magical the journey, Li’l Red always gets eaten in the end.
