Being left for a nineteen-year-old with a nose ring is a very long way down Lou Walter’s list of “fun things to do after forty” – no matter how much she might laugh it off in public.
Still, Seabury has wrapped its loving arms around her, and Lou’s two jobs, new friends and mad cold-water-swimming escapades are keeping her from dwelling on the treacherous little…

Lou’s got her new house to focus on. She always thought buying a house was meant to be the “grown-up thing to do”… but when it comes to this one, she’s not so sure. There was quite a bit of creative licence going on when the estate agent described it as “charmingly rustic”.
But – it looks like the cure to Lou’s broken heart can be found amongst the tubes of filler and tins of paint. Now, if only she could find the time and energy to tame the garden…
When the rampant brambles finally get the better of her, Lou goes in search of a pair of helping hands… and finds more than she’d ever bargained for deep in the undergrowth!
