He had his chance. He blew it, and I’m out of here.

Flora
I’m at the bottom of the pack. I’m female, I have no family left, and everywhere a shifter is supposed to be hard, I’m soft and round. There’s one bright spot in my days—Alec Cameron.
He’s hard in every way—so distant that he’s ice cold—but once in a while, he gives me a nod, and we sneak off to the woods. He’s not cold then. Not at all.
I used to dream that Fate would make it official, but after so many years, I’ve given up hope. Then, at a pack run, heat strikes. Alec Cameron is my mate.
In front of everyone, he turns his back on me.
I didn’t know how cold he could be, but I do now, and I’ve got a choice to make. Do I hang around and deal with this messed up pack like I always do? Or do I take my new wolf, break free, and forge a new path of our own?

Alec
This pack is falling apart. Literally. I spend my days patching together buildings that are inches from sliding down the mountain. In my free time, I have to compete with the other two males vying for Salt Mountain alpha, the world’s worst job.
I’m constantly holding everything together, and until the night of the last full moon run, there was at least one bright spot in my days.
Then Flora Ritchie goes into heat at the worst possible time and place, and in all the chaos and revelations, I lose my grip. And my temper.
In the blink of an eye, my mate is gone.
I know how to fix things, not feelings, but if I don’t figure it out, and quickly, I’m going to lose it all.

This was fantastic! Loved everything. ..........to those below that complained about her size being brought up over and over...I am going to assume you aren't a larger lady. If you are and have never went through even a smidgeon of what she did, then consider yourself damn fucking lucky.

The whole point of this story was to show the character growth of both of them. Her learning to love the body she has and to learn that to be bigger isn't a disgrace, isn't gross. Him learning that he didn't need to hide her, that loving someone different than the norm was ok. What she goes through, thinks, and learns from is telling the reader about the abuse she lived with. from everyone in her life, even her future mate. It wasn't repeated to shove it down your throat. It was told so you understood what it is like for a bigger woman to live in a world where thin rules and you are shamed, taunted, treated cruel, and degraded daily on everything. His learning was to understand the hell she went through and see it from her perspective. He needed to learn that just because he never experienced it toward him, she did, how did it affect her, how her reactions were colored by it for everything. He had to start thinking how his off the cuff remarks/judgements contributed to the problem. He needed to learn as well.

Because let me tell you, I have lost count the number of times I have had people tell me to just eat a salad or exercise and I would be dropping weight and their size in no time. We aren't all meant to be a size skinny/thin. Differences are what make the world thrive and grow.

BBW stories are all well and fine. Not my particular interest but there's room for all types in books. However, I don't think it helps the story when the writer focuses over and over on the fmc being a bigger girl. Her body is one aspect of her character and once you've established that she's plus sized, we don't need to hear about it all the time. It's not the sole facet of her existence!

💙🤎💙🤎💙I’m sorry, but I totally LOL with “Your squish?”😆 I’ve never heard anyone say that before, it’s cute & totally gonna start using it💜 and Bevan definitely won some points by being Bevan💘 I kinda hope he gets aHEA too! I very much like the main characters, and loved The Old Den Pack🐺

I agree about Bevan, especially him being a Tigger in wolf form. Haha! I wonder who he ends up with as a mate. <3

It's a good story. They dragged not only the story out, but the mention of her size. It was just too much.
